OUIE 016EP
David Mayer returns to Ouie following his well-received The Call EP from 2018 and The Circle released on the new sub-label Ouïe Circle. Though being born in south Germany, Mayer grew up between Norway and Lanzarote, perhaps a clue to his expansive and border-less sound. Here he brings three new tracks to the label from Acid Pauli and Nico Stojan. Title track "Skanda" is a psychedelic trip through firing percussive elements, wonky synths, distorted vocals, and an unstoppable groove. "Snake Dance" has a similarly unhinged feel, building around a one-note bassline and crisp, rolling drums before heading to the stratosphere with sparkling arpeggios. On the B-side, there's the vinyl exclusive, "Ouroboros" -- an eight-minute odyssey into Mayer's interest in hypnotic percussion and psychedelic track structures.

OUIE 009EP
David Mayer has built up an enviously diverse back catalog on labels such as Connected Frontline, Objektivity, Gruuv, Audiomatique and Keinemusik and now delivers his first release on Acid Pauli and Nico Stojan's Ouie label, The Call. Bringing Mayer's trademark groove to the fore once more, "The Call" is built around a kick, clap and 808 blip, before a more organic groove develops. "Sooner" is more urgent -- a crisp, forward leaning rhythm and deep bass lead the way, before synthesizer takes us on a melodic walkabout. "Black Queen" keeps things zesty but with acres of space as well.

CONNECTED 019EP
David Mayer needs little introduction. Affiliated with the flourishing Keinemusik label, his output as a producer and a DJ since the mid-2000s has been massive, forging his name as an expert in funked-up, pounding, deep techno and house. On "Drained (feat. Sooma)," Sooma's mesmerizing, pensive vocals keep the floor gripped before the silky bass action makes its presence felt, relentlessly adding to the vibrant atmosphere. "Movement" is classic David Mayer in techno mode, starting low-key and building up with tight electrifying synths until the kick comes in.
