Third time is a charm, as the saying goes. But if the first two times were already so memorable, what more can one ask for? Nebraska comes back with a bang for his third release on Heist after Soften The Wireless EP (HEIST 017EP, 2016) and Metaphor To The Floor EP (HEIST 028EP, 2017). It's hard to believe it has been three years since his last appearance on Heist, but with Y'miss Me Baby?, Nebraska takes back center stage with another release full of disco-flavored electronics. Italian disco man-of-the-moment Giovanni Damico comes along for the ride and delivers a stunning '80s flavored remix. It's not to say that Nebraska (Alistair Gibbs) has been sitting still since 2017. He's launched his own label Friends & Relations where he explores his cut-and-paste style even more with some seriously cool disco dubs and other sonic adventures. Furthermore, he made a guest appearance on Aaron Dae and JKriv's Razor'n'Tape Reserve. His view is one of humor and positivity and one of creating new meaning through rearranging context. This is certainly true for his music and this new EP on Heist. The title track "Y'miss me baby?" oozes funk with a clever combination of samples from different contexts put together to create something altogether new, yet familiar. The track has a real '80s disco vibe to it and the vocoder adds even more to the Zapp and Roger flavor of things. It's a laidback track that feels like it was recorded on a gloomy Sunday evening with no pressure on anything and just room for fun. The vibe takes a complete left-hand turn with "Dip And Flip," a high-energy house track that rattles, loops and bleeps into a full-on disco frenzy. The B-side kicks off with Italian disco wizard Giovanni Damico remixing the title track. His "Jam" remix flips the track into a freeform arrangement where guitars, disco claps, delays, and retro synth licks all work together for a great taste of Italian boogie. The EP finishes off in true Nebraska style, with yet another curveball. "Xia Long Bao" sounds like a lost Nick Holder track with its loopy island-style Rhodes and lazy chanting. The choice of samples along with the catchy groove makes this a signature Nebraska track and a quality closer for this single.

Nebraska's Metaphor To The Floor EP lead track "Affirmation" possesses a subtle build up and release of energy, looping vocals, and dramatic chords. "Aglio e Olio" is a simple yet tasty Italian dish with of just five ingredients -- a great funk/house crossover appeal. Londoner Laurence Guy provides his version of "Aglio e Olio", a dreamier excursion with filtered pads, acid-y licks, and plenty low-end to get you movin'. Nebraska turns the energy up with "Big Plate Chicken", the sort of track you'd imagine Omar S. producing if he would be just a bit whiter, and a bit more British.

Nebraska's Soften The Wireless EP navigates nicely between disco and house with 4 originals and an amazing Tom Noble remix. "Khan's Bargain" will be the go-to track for the more disco-minded listeners out there, with a catchy-as-hell synth line. The remix, courtesy of Tom Noble, goes on a clubbier path, turning the silky smooth original into a distorted house jam. The B-side starts with "The Blues", a perfect example of minimalistic house. "It Won't Be Long" breezes through with a lighthearted arpeggio and some lovely dreamy vocals to set a more emotional vibe.

Since 2009, Nebraska has released four EPs for Rush Hour. This is now being followed up by his first album for the label, Displacement. The album consists of smooth and elegant tracks such as "You & I" and "The Cruives" to the more upfront disco of "Patina" or "Phthalo Blues." It also holds some of the best tracks from his EPs, like catchy disco anthem "This Is The Way" and the soul-drenched "The Other Side." On Displacement, Nebraska continues what he does best; combining fun-loving, party-starting disco jams with cinematic, luscious work-outs.

This is the third EP by Nebraska on Rush Hour, featuring four strong house tracks. The lush "Soho Grand" oozes magic, while the snappier title track has a perfect late-night drive. Side B opens with the disco-fied "Time Has Come Pt. 1." This is peak-time business. The same can be said of "Masala Dosa," where an infectious jazz groove rides on a finger-snapping bounce. Bam! For fans of Rick Wade, Theo Parrish, Trus'Me, et al.

Second Rush Hour release. For fans of Theo Parrish, Trus' Me, et al. Terrestrial Variations has been out-of-print for over a decade and it still sounds fresh -- 4 tracks that will surely make you swing. "My Brother" is a peak-time disco jazz cut, which has made disco floors erupt on many occasions. The original version of "My Father" continues along those lines. "Off Ramp" and "Worldless Narrative" both are cool boogie tracks, which make for another winner from Nebraska.
