DIAL 055EP
|
One year after his debut album on Dial Records (DIAL 015CD/LP), co-founder Pawel is back with a fantastic remix package. Patrice Scott drops a version of "Crillon" which represents the magic sound of his beloved Sistrum label. The remix by Osunlade, the one and only Yoruba Soul priest of house music, offers a remix which has already received support from house masters like Little Louie Vega. John Roberts' version of "Kramnik" raises the origin to an even sweeter level.

2LP version. Almost 10 years after Paul Kominek aka Turner co-founded the Dial label, he now releases his long-awaited first album as Pawel. This debut comes out covered with silver typography on a white sleeve -- minimal and glittering -- just like Pawel's music. After first touching the techno music scene in Detroit-influenced Frankfurt, he moved to the melancholic, deep city of Hamburg. From here, Pawel started several trips around the world -- mainly South America and Asia. All of these locations melt together into the typical sound of Pawel. Tracks such as "Coke" and "Crillon" are deeply inspired by almost two decades of Detroit's Planet E-era, followed by new artists like Patrice Scott and Omar S. Tracklist: A1. Panamerican, A2. Alvin; B1. Coke, B2. Crillon; C1. Laredo, C2. Kramnik; D1. Dawn

The Warp-alike "Muscles" features a touch of Plaid's elegance, but subtle deepness connects it to other lowlights like "Alvin" and "Wasting My Time." Pawel is sweet, lovely and reinvented.

Dial co-founder Paul Kominek aka Turner aka Pawel presents a taste of his full-length, inspired by almost two decades of Detroit's Planet E-era and Dial Records' 10 years of existence. Pawel's music can be regarded as the essence of the label's work: deeply outstanding pearls for a dancefloor in love with the dancers.

"After his very well acclaimed debut on Orphanear with Jujuy&Salta and his impelling and chart-breaking remix for Tocotronic's latest 12" Imitationen, Pawel is back with the new 12" Gabriel on Orphanear. Both tracks provide the autumn soundtrack for deep and dark house-loving clubs all over the globe. The A-side with 'Gabriel' mixes classic house strings with some xylophone and bell sounds, known from Hamburg's scene around Dial and Smallville Records. These elements build up in beautiful layers to culminate in a furious, rather ironic break. The B-side with 'Early Bird' begins with an airy beat that brings Pawel's 2004 vocal house lover 'Grab It' back to mind. After the softer intro, the track mutates into a synth spiral whose home has already been defined by Pawel's 12" Ceramic. Some abandoned industrial city in the north of the United States. A timeless record."

"Pawel, also known for his melancholic and deeply emotional songwriter skills as Turner on Ladomat and Mute, follows his path of minimal post-Detroit influenced tracks recently heard on his Dial release, 'Ceramics.' Having released 3 12"s on Dial Records as Pawel so far, 'Jujuy & Salta' marks a step on new ground, by starting his own label. Orphanear is meant to be a open playground for both the Pawel and Turner releases, as well as for old and new friends, not only in the dance spectrum. Exciting forthcoming releases to hit the streets in 2007! 'Jujuy' starts of with a slowed-down, dark and bouncing synth line, and later on sound as if Sähkö had moved to Los Angeles and invited us all. 'Salta' turns up the velocity slightly and deliberately evolves into one of the sweetest and hypnotic Detroit affine tracks in the recent past."

"After his sad and beautiful Turner album Slow Abuse (Ladomat 2005) Paul Kominek aka Pawel is on a journey into deep dance again! Influences are the Amsterdam Detrotish scene (Intacto, Delsin, Rushhour) and all the real Motorcity People -- from the first generation to Vince Watson's Detroit trance and the Beatdown of Omar-S. But one main Influence is Pawel himself -- the sounddesigner, DJ and critical dancer. 'The Aesthetics of Resistence' is the essence of both dancefloor sides: the rising warm-up piece 'Ceramics' on the one hand, a smashing primetime hit 'The Aesthetics of Resistence' on the other. This will move the clubs flavoured from new Detroitish to deeply rooted."

"Pawel Kominek also known as Turner, plays the guitar for his new album out on Ladomat next year. The deep and melancholic Turner pieces will fit one of the best indietronic longplayer so far. But the guitar player needs club music to survive, we all know that. So Pawel constructs his second EP on Dial (Watch Dial - Pawel - Into Pieces). The main track 'Grab it' is a funky house stomper reminding of some freaks outta UK. Firstly released on this year's politronics compilation, vocals by Turner himself, this is what we call an earworm. Three offbeat tracks will fit the next two step party and revolute the hole UK scene. No, the tracks are just too sweet to sweat."
