What is techno if not a powerful conduit for energy? The movement of a sequence, the surge of an effects rush, the respondent reaction in every individual dancer and the moving mass of the crowd as a whole. Whether the frequencies transmit directly into the brain through the intimacy of a headphone reverie, reverberate through the architecture of a space or fill the formless void of the open air, techno's potency to initiate and stimulate energetic events is profound. This is something Pfirter understands intimately, having spent more than 15 years exploring ways of manipulating the energy on a dancefloor. Of course, energy is not just about volume and aggression. Tonality, spatial processing and composition can have just as profound an effect as the thump of the kick drum. On his new album Altered States, Pfirter proves that point by zeroing in on the cerebral, psychedelic elements of his craft across ten incisive tracks. The Argentine producer consciously approached his second album (following 2019's The Empty Space) with a minimal mindset, using a very focused set of drum machines and synths to achieve a consistency across the record. Captured over a short burst of creativity, it's the sound of an artist pushing a limited array of tools as far as possible. Despite this concise palette, it's not an album that repeats itself, but rather an extended trip that flows from one detailed, textured immersion to the next. The dense, febrile waves of hard-oscillating ripples in "A Future In Chaos" and the sparkling, off-key chimes adorning "Yearn" all speak to Pfirter's gift for extravagant, surrealist expression within his tracks. "Altered States", by way of contrast, succeeds in its absolute immediacy -- a piledriving statement of bleep-driven intent. "Boiler" and "Convergence" land somewhere in between, coiling around kinked rhythmic incantations which still push forwards with precision while offering a different angle from which to approach the dancefloor. Cementing the idea of the whole album as a listening experience, Altered States is bookended by "Venus" and "Dissolution", two minimal exercises in drone-oriented mood setting. Spanning linear rhythms and broken beats, moments of calm and writhing intensity, Altered States offers a multitude of energetic possibilities in the mix or as a standalone piece of music. Ultimately, it's a masterful return from a leading light of the contemporary techno scene.

MindTrip's label head, Pfirter, returns to his imprint with an assertive four-tracker on wax. As he continues his hunt to the dancefloor while remaining loyal to his signature sound of asymmetric rhythms, accurate arrangements, and fierce synth lines, Pfirter is clearly focused on the heaviest side of his own palette. Dosis Multiple is his effort for sharing a balanced release of firm techno cuts while playing with intensities, moods, hypnosis, tension, and release.

Pushing his sound further into leftfield-leaning horizons and textured atmospheric reliefs, Pfirter's highly-anticipated debut long-player, The Empty Space, finds the Argentinian-born, Barcelona-based producer steering across shape-shifting sonic rapids with poise and panache. Inspired by a fractal of elements including physics, sci-fi and Lovecraftian flicks, amongst many other things, The Empty Space is a record that revolves around the experience of the voyage itself rather than the destination, throbbing with a vital pulse that acutely transcends all categories and genres, as Pfirter adroitly recombines techno's DNA into something truly and definitely his own. From the false quiet of gloomy lakeshores and riverbanks to post-industrial cityscapes, through barren no-go zones and tiny basements packed to the rafters, welcome into Pfirter's personal "empty space". MindTrip Music's don on his imprint with a dark and intense musical exploration, followed by a signature remix by Ukrainian icon Stanislav Tolkachev. "Rise Of The White Dwarf" welcomes you into a trippy journey. "Double Existence" goes into a darker dimension of broken patterns and modular jam. "They Want To Fool Us" is a clear statement by Pfirter who delivers a raw, stormy techno track that keeps a melancholic twinge; while Stanislav Tolkachev makes his MindTrip Music debut with a psychedelic, strong, and driving interpretation of this original piece.

MINDTRIP 010EP

Three strong, synth-orientated dancefloor tracks from label boss Pfirter and a remix by Tensal. The frenetic, dark, atmospheric, and intense "Procyon," with its driving percussive flow, is guaranteed to send whoever hears it into a feverish delirium. "Rige" is more subtle and deep, working a relentless groove alongside colorful, metallic textures. Tensal (Exium) remixes "Procyon" superbly and demonstrates his innate ability to craft interesting and fresh-sounding techno. "Closer to the Truth" is a hypnotic, trippy outing in which tension and energy build relentlessly amid a backdrop of organic analog hubbub, providing a perfect showcase for Pfirter's trademark sound.

Following the well-received 2014 various artists series From the Lab to the Club (MT 007EP/MT 008EP), MindTrip welcomes the return of label boss Pfirter. "Otras Dimensiones" layers dark and ambient textures to build tension and set the mood. "Message 1," with a dark bassline giving rise to high-frequency color, is a building cauldron of devilry, unrelenting in its pursuit of evil. The dancefloor sounds of the eerie "Technalog" are perfect for the dankest and grimiest of settings. "Casus Belli" blends rich analog sounds in deep, fascinating layers and textures, hypnotizing the listener as it ebbs and flows.

"Juan Pablo Pfirter is predicting a magical career. He has already released big hits on labels like 2020 Vision and Spectral Sound under the name Plan Tec. Juan Pablo Pfirter's first EP on Stockholm LTD, MindTrip Music, was honored all across the world and played by Michael Mayer, Ellen Allien, Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer among others. We are now proud to present the huge follow up to this success in the shape of Good Luck EP, which has already received great feedback and playtime from Chris Liebing, Anja Schneider, Len Faki, Joel Mull, Christian Smith, Marko Nastic and on. Here are Pfirter's own words about the Good Luck EP-project. 'The main idea of the tracks, 'Good Luck' and 'Bad Luck' is to show two different sides of the same coin, two different versions of the same story. Even though they have sounds in common, they strive in opposite directions. One bright and one dark.' This release rounds up with the song 'Elefantentor.' 'Shaped out from a theme park experience. It is based around a groove. Upon that groove I added a rollercoaster-like melody, that makes the dancefloor go crazy', Pfirter explains."
