OVM 274EP

The Dutchman Anton Pieete has spent recent years exploring the reaches of his analog set up, and turns over his latest wares to Ovum, with The Menu. "Peven" is heady and intoxicating - it's percussive, funky drums and undulating keys are carried by a woozy wave of rich analog bass. The dramatic and ghostly strings of "BN 3000" are at odds with its frenetic bouncing bass melody and yet, they work in complete harmony. "Lite Green" is a cosmic jam with a laser synths and a malleable, swinging groove that's governed by a pulsating bassline and dense kick drum.

REJ 045EP

Anton Pieete follows his acclaimed 2014 The News double 12" (REJ 033EP) with a collection of remixes of its tracks. UK sensation Mosca takes on the deep, mysterious "Next Year," toughening and twisting the original with reversed sweeps. Pieete's fellow Dutchman Tom Ruijg remixes the title-track, stripping things back only to rebuild it as a tense, minimal techno outing. Pieete himself joins forces with Awanto 3, layering their wonderful vocal lick over "Next Year" to give it a fresh and addictive face. Detroit's Rolando also takes on "The News," filtering things down while pushing his beats and snare to the fore.

Anton Pieete delivered one of 2013's summer club smashes with his Rejected anthem "Loner." With the original already having been a firm favorite for label boss Joris Voorn, its infectious vocal and big funky bass line helped create an audience favorite. For 2014, Rejected are revisiting and reworking the original and have drafted in Kabale Und Liebe to create his own vision of "Loner." Stripping away the disco-glitter of the original, he leads us on a deeper waltz, swept along by his own groove-heavy bass line and decorated with the original's spritely melody. Fellow Rejected boss Edwin Oosterwal gives "Loner" a classic '90s New York vibe.

Anton Pieete produces driving patterns and original grooves and It's a Plucker EP is no exception. The title track has a clean and crispy percussive loop that's perfectly patterned, combined with the balance of a nitty-gritty jazz-infused hook and a trademark deep and dubby bass. "Ambi Dancer" drives in full power into a bouncy, groove-ridden bassline. Pieete seamlessly introduces an eerie-sounding synth combined with siren elements that work effortlessly together, giving the track a mysterious touch.
