BALANS 019EP
Benny Rodrigues aka ROD has had a strong relationship with the Dutch Balans label and its owner after releasing the label's fourth release in 2011. He opens this EP with "Float," evoking is a nostalgic voyage into the unknown as a traditional flute whistles a techno lullaby before "Lego" engages the listener with the sounds of watery blips scattered throughout. "3yr" is a mellow track that steadily climbs into a euphoric blend of dub-inspired chords to form an elegant composition. The composition of "Kloduba" cleverly corresponds with "3yr," as its gentle patterns gradually develop to harmonize together.

CLR 090EP
ROD's second EP on CLR following 2012's HGB/DTC (CLR 059EP) features two tracks that displays a style and approach unprecedented in his career. "HKH" touches the more peak-time side of things, but by infusing some deep pads it creates a slightly more Detroit edge overall. "Usually, I try to build my tracks around the minimum sounds possible, but in this case all these lead sounds just made sense to me," says ROD. "GHT" sees ROD experimenting with a late, trippy night and just flowing. "This might be one of the weirdest tracks I have made so far."

CLR 059EP
Benny Rodrigues has been closely connected to the CLR crew for many years. This EP under his ROD alias features two brand-new tracks. "HGB" is stripped-down, energetic and hypnotic techno with a thrifty and efficient use of synths. It's driving, elegant beat programming, together with its crafty, subtle effects, vividly illustrates ROD's special handwriting. "DTC" is even more minimalistic and reduced to the absolute indispensable, which makes it equally effective in its own way.
