KOM EX120EP

The kick drums of tomorrow once again begin to rumble in the smog infested, strobe-stricken clubs of today. Kompakt's Speicher series always strives to provide the dance floors with a soundtrack to grant our mind and body temporary refuge and escape. Kompakt feel it is more than ever needed considering the darkness that surrounds us all in these times. Kompakt welcome back Marc Romboy. A gifted producer, DJ and friend that has been behind the decks as a key supporter of Kompakt's music since the beginning. Beyond that, Marc is an astute musician, with releases on many of the esteemed; from Ovum to Innervisions and of course his own Systematic Recordings his music is incredibly varied. They say that the third time is a charm, but in this case he returns to our Speicher series again with a two track EP that feels more like a sequel that is true to the excellent consistency of his previous output. Armed only with a Buchla Music Easel, the Roland TR-909 and an Arp 2600, "Randomized" is pure techno as it tweaks and twists into a complete frenzy. Marc pays homage to the legendary Californian synthesizer inventor Don Buchla with the very trippy churner, "Monsieur Buchla".

EYE 011EP

German veteran Marc Romboy is back on André Hommen's These Eyes imprint with a stellar two track release entitled Elka, showcasing Marc's effortless ability to portray alluring and emotive characteristics through music. This offering follows up from Trapped In An Orbit, which he released on the label in 2017 and remains a label highlight to this day. The title track "Elka" provides a stirring and suspenseful journey that plays out as it's melodies unfold over a bassline that pulses gently and impels the listener. "Unreal Sun" ups the energy with a groove that's ready to fall into and chords that lead the way, dictating the pace as their intensity undulates. Marc Romboy has dedicated 30 years to the scene, with an impressive history of releases on labels like Innervisions and his own Systematic Recordings, collaborating with artists such as Stephan Bodzin. It is a point to be made that the A side to this release is one of Marc's personal favorites to date and it is clear to see why.

Marc Romboy returns to the Kompakt Extra series with Stalker/Beyond. Since last seen in 2018 on Speicher 103, Marc has kept plenty busy with a release on Bedrock, a collaboration with Stephan Bodzin, plus a series of releases with Petar Dundov on his own Systematic Recordings. Beyond Marc's rigorous DJ touring schedule, he performed live in a planetarium and ended the year with a highlight, performing live at Philharmonie Cologne together with violinist Miki Kekenj and the Takeover! Ensemble. Marc appears to be looking back to the deep, twisted forms of techno that shaped his early years with this double header. "Stalker" clearly delivers a typical Detroit-ish '90s grittiness and drive which resounded on the dancefloors of the German rave scene of that era. "Beyond" is a deeper cut for those late-night dreamers who are into the sound of Carpenter. A growling synth and laser light synth mingle relentlessly until a delicate piano quickly produces the realization that it's the place.

HYPE 005EP
|
The release of Marc Romboy's album Voyage De La Planète in 2017 (HYPE 002CD/LP) marked a new era of his career. With ten rather beatless tracks where he combined his definition of electronica with classical instruments like violin, cello, double bass, and piano Marc began to walk the path of fresh sounding music for the brain. The title track has been the most successful one so that Marc called no one else than Erased Tape's poster boy Ben Lukas Boysen from Berlin to contribute his very own interpretation. Ben created a typical and unique version which comes along with a, believe it or not, 4/4 kick pattern towards the end. But listen yourself, it totally makes sense. And Bordeaux's best Ocoeur made a short but epic ambient version you also should not miss.

After releases on Kompakt, Innervisions, and Bedrock in 2018, Marc Romboy returns to his mothership and delivers his first solo EP on his own imprint in three years. While "Moonface" represents the melodic and spherical shade of Romboy's works, "Zukunft" represents the dark and deep side of his skills. Pure synthesizer LFO pulsating madness.

After the great success of his new-classsical album Voyage De La Planete (HYPE 002CD/LP, 2017), Marc Romboy releases a special 7" single. And once again as he experiments with his sound-pushing the boundaries between classical and electronic music to create both an emotional and atmospheric experience. The title track "Voyage De La Planète" was especially taped at the Robert-Schumann-Saal in Düsseldorf to create a high-grade recording of each classical instrument. The difference between a studio room and a concert hall is remarkable. "La Lune Et L'Etoile" comes along with an outstanding piano-only version.

Speicher 103 is Marc Romboy and Kompakt's inaugural act of faith. A cosmic storm in a teacup, "Galaxy In An Atom" blows some furious stellar winds across a shapeshifting tide of loud kicks and mutant bass moves, beating across uneven arpeggiated synth reliefs through thick and thin. Following up pedal-to-the-metal, the pulsating "Elektrisiermaschine" makes for a proper peak time ball of fire. Built upon a rolling and pitching bass comber, the track sets its pistons and rods in dancing motion straightaway, adding batucada-like rhythms for a mind-bending onslaught.

Double LP version. Includes download code. Marc Romboy presents his upcoming album Voyage De La Planète, his first solo full-length production in over eight years. Released on his newly launched Hyperharmonic label, Voyage De La Plantète signifies an exciting new chapter for Marc as he experiments with his sound, pushing the boundaries between classical and electronic music to create both an emotional and atmospheric experience. "Jules Verne", named after the French science fiction writer, combines echoing arpeggios and a subtle woodwind harmony to create a cosmic soundscape. "Atome De Danse", "Symphonie Oblique", and "La Machine Du Temps" use elegant strings to further enhance an unearthly effect, title track "Voyage De La Planète" mixes the two mediums together with fluttering synths and somber strings before "La Lune Et L'étolie" builds introduces the bustling sound of the piano to create an upbeat melody. Whilst there is a strong classical influence, there are tracks on the album that reference Marc's electronic background. This can be heard in "L'Univers Étrange", which has an ambient sound, whilst pitched-down chords take "L'Universe Parallèle" to a dark and moody space. "Phénix" is a bass-driven track, layered with crashing synths, taking the journey to a high before the celestial experience draws to a close on an uplifting note with "Nocturne", a laid-back soothing track that exudes optimism and wonderment. Inspired by a concert with the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra where he performed Claude Debussy's works in a contemporary way, Voyage De La Planète signifies the start of a new chapter for Marc Romboy. Voyage De La Planète combines the strange, fascinating sounds of electronic music with the sublime beauty of classical music to create an extraordinary sonic experience for the listener. Mastered by Steffen Müller. Double LP version includes a download code.

One of Marc Romboy's biggest tracks of all times is without any doubt "Iceland" from 2008, an homage to one of the countries he's totally in love with. In order to celebrate the 10 years of Systematic in an extraordinary way, this is the third limited picture disc in one, featuring two brand-new interpretations of Marc's milestone track by French techno godfather Laurent Garnier and Iceland's #1 electronica figureheads, GusGus. While Garnier convinces again with an uncompromising and rough techno journey, GusGus surprise with an untypical remix, featuring an ambient sound environment.

Marc Romboy presents Shades, a 3CD album exploring the different sides to his musical personality, featuring a handpicked selection of his finest originals and remixes, plus nine brand-new cuts exclusive to the release. In a stellar career spanning over two decades, German DJ/producer Marc Romboy has been virtually impossible to confine to any clear genre box. Whether exploring melody, percussive-driven robotics or going deep, the Systematic Records chief has excelled in crafting innovative electronic music always with an eye on the future. "For disc 1, I went deep, groovy and soulful, disc 2, melodic, trippy and warm and for disc 3 I explored my love of noise, machine rhythms and crazy sounds," he explains. Indeed CD1 features superb cuts such as the hip-lashing "Shake It Again," created with Fyta & Ray Wilbern, his classic re-work of Terrence Parker's "Love's Got Me High" and the hugely popular "Delusion of the Enemy" courtesy of his partnership with Bulgarian-based KiNK, which are just a handful of the many quality tracks on the disc. Additionally, collaborations with Blake Baxter (updated version of "Freakin'") and Chi-Town house luminary Robert Owens ("In My Mind") reinforce Romboy's outstanding career working with the most respected heads in the industry. CD2 is the more sultry companion to its predecessor, with the blissful, chord-driven money-shot "Muzik" again created with Baxter expanding the sound palette, while Romboy goes the brain-spiraling route with U.S.-house veteran Tyree Cooper, thanks to the 303-led "Lost." Stellar solo productions also pop up on this disc, best exemplified with the chugging, melody-drenched "The Advent," while remixes of Detroit Grand Pubahs, Max Cooper, and as-yet unreleased reinterpretation of Gus Gus reinforce Romboy's Midas touch on the rework front. CD3 is led by the fittingly-titled Kris Wadsworth collaboration "The Noise," a five-minute, mind-warbling bass jam, before the tone then shifts markedly, allowing the sweeping strings and synth-washed sonics of "Reciprocity" to take center stage, featuring vocalist Bajka.

This is Systematic Recording's second label compilation. After the successful first edition of Systematic Colours, which was compiled and mixed by Stephan Bodzin, it's now time for the label boss himself, Marc Romboy. Systematic Recordings was founded almost five years ago with its first release Every Day In My Life by Marc Romboy in collaboration with Booka Shade. More than 50 releases by a lot of well-known electric activists such as John Dahlbäck, Blake Baxter, Phonique, Dusty Kid, Robert Babicz and Gui Boratto followed, so that Systematic Recordings became one of the worldwide most reviewed and respected electronic label imprints from Germany. Now it's definitely time to celebrate all this once again and therefore, Marc has mixed a representative potpourri of 16 special Systematic songs in exactly 80 minutes. Other artists include: Chelonis R. Jones, Stefan Goldmann, Ante Perry vs. Babylon Robots, Audio Soul Project, Dimitri Andreas, Kim D, Afrilounge, Stephan Bodzin, Blake Baxter, Hugo & Daniele Papini, Spirit Catcher, D-Nox & Beckers, Gabe, and Oxia.

Systematic presents a high-quality remix package of Marc Romboy's 2008 Contrast album with outstanding remixes from techno-house icons such as Robert Hood, Konrad Black, Dimitri Andreas, D'Julz, and Technasia. The original album was produced in cooperation with 45 Rocks and featured vocal collaborations with Chelonis R. Jones, Blake Baxter and Mr. K-Alexi. These remixes redefine what it means for an artist to contrast his work against another's, whether through restructuring challenging beats, or by using original musical content to question what works and what doesn't on a dancefloor. Some comments on the remixes include: Josh Wink: "All mixes are darn good"; Will Saul: "The Konrad Black remix is a killer"; Anja Schneider: "Wow, nice package, will play it"; Laurent Garnier: "Superb remixes, full support everywhere"; Gregor Tresher: "Amazing package"; D'Julz: "Very cool Robert Hood remix."

Hugo has taken a distinctive, groovy, house-y direction, and Patrice Bäumel has converted "Sonora" to a slowly-progressing tech-house Godzilla, destroying an entire city in just over eleven (!) minutes! This is the second full-length release from Systematic founder, Düsseldorf's Marc Romboy. After collaborations with John Dahlbäck, Chelonis R. Jones, Jence and Zoo Brazil, Romboy released his debut artist album Gemini in 2006 to great critical acclaim. Romboy has also released on labels including Ovum, Simple, Brique Rouge, Superstition, 20:20 Vision and more. He also regularly collaborates with Stephan Bodzin, crafting tracks that delicately and melodically enhance the experience of listening to electronic music. Contrast is produced in cooperation with 45 Rocks and brings forth vocal collaborations with artists including Chelonis R. Jones, Blake Baxter and Mr. K-Alexi. Embracing the concept of contrasts as part of a new life philosophy, Romboy pits himself against sonorities that seem antithetical to dance music, but flow in total symbiosis, embracing difference. When you listen to the kicking and techy "Sonora" and afterwards to the Detroit techno-influenced "Elif," with its addition of jazz saxophone, it is as thrillingly high contrast as one could get, defining and defying category.

The Systematic label head presents us the last part of the remix series of his successful debut album Gemini. This time there are three different tracks of Marc's longplayer he produced with Stephan Bodzin. Remixes include Williams' "Impact Disco" track, illuminated with his own soulful touch. John Tejada put his hands on "Jigsaw" and transformed this reduced groovy tune to a typical Tejada killer track. Jake Farley created under his Fairmont persona a respectful new interpretation of "Model 1601," the most atmospheric piece on Marc's album.
