NT 003EP

After releases on Gigolo, Rush Hour, Planet E and We Play House, French producer Sebastien San presents the Asylum EP, made to be played on every dancefloor there is. With the hypnotic techno-soundscapes of "Asylum," Sebastien San has created one of his best tracks, ever, and the other two tracks are of the same quality. "Does Compute" is driven by inescapable hooks while "Alpha Centauri" slows it down with warm strings, Chicago house claps and a subtly pulsating bassline.

WPH 011EP

Detroit grooves from French producer Sebastien San with a deep San Soda remix on top. Things kick off with the title track in an ad lib version. Surprisingly beatless, but deep as you wanna go. "Pulsation" takes things in a hypnotizing direction, drawing you in and working both mind and body. The B-side sees San Soda bring us his downtempo take on "Great Cities" while "Theories" finishes things off with another gorgeous slice of good dance music.

FIGSPC B
|
"A rather talented Frenchman in love with Detroit is the second artist to contribute their music to the SPC catalogue. Sebastien San, who has already released highly received productions with labels like Rush Hour, Planet E and Echochord, provides two wonderful cuts for Figure SPC B. Reminiscent of heroic expeditions into the unknown, both 'Chief Inspector' and 'Midnight Motion' have all the brawn, intelligence and forward-pushing energy of those young and fearless techno pioneers some twenty years past. Full of raw, unadulterated emotions and overwhelming, room-filling waves of kinetic energy, '...Inspector' greets us with an instantly catchy synth hook, rising amongst a strong, classic groove that seeks out the hidden dancer in all of us. Rising and falling through a canyon of synthesizers, a melody of epic proportions fuels this night train's dramatic adventure, freezing time and space in its path."

PE 65292EP

Two-track single, B-side features a C2 (Carl Craig) edit. "Sebastien San grew up with the sounds of Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, Prince, and Serge Gainsbourg. In the early '80s, he got into the new wave and industrial scene and was heavily inspired by Depeche Mode, Cabaret Voltaire, Fad Gadget, Human League, Front 242, and Severed Heads, amongst many others. The emerging club culture of the mid-'80s, as well as the birth of Detroit techno and Chicago house had an even greater impact on him. He consequently landed a job at a local record store where he could get his hands on all those great records. It also helped him to launch his own party series where he could play those fabulous tracks. By the mid-'90s, Sebastien founded his own (and now defunct) record label called Shield Records. During that time, he had the chance to collaborate with artists such as Kirk DeGiorgio, Kevin Saunderson and Fabrice Lig, to name a few. 'It was Fabrice who really turned me into the production side of music. He convinced me to buy synthesizers and drum machines.' Another key factor was Sebastien's meeting with Mad Mike of Underground Resistance in Detroit at the infamous Submerge building. As Sebastien became more familiar with production techniques and studio equipment, he decided to concentrate full-time on music production. He developed his very own style which combines deep atmospheric strings, sweet melodies, and funky beats and rhythms, releasing records on Gigolo Records and Planet E, among others."

GIGOLO 173EP
|
"Enter the Gigolo! International Deejay Gigolo Records is proud to present hot new act Sebastien San. Sebastien, like his mentor DJ Hell, worked in his youth in a record store in order to get his hands on all the great records coming out at the time. This is the debut release from the young Frenchman. And what a discovery Hell has made; 'Wuxia' by Sebastien San is without doubt a fresh-sounding late summer hit."
