HIGH 107EP

Guido Schneider has produced another EP for Highgrade which presents the typical Schneider qualities right before our eyes, or even better: before our ears. The two tracks navigate precisely from the first bar, the minimal sound universe relying on elaborate percussion, flowing into fantastically harmonic vocals that lend the thumping beats an elegant softness. Simply stated, typically Schneider.

Guido Schneider returns to Tuning Spork with more concoctions of haunted house music, adding layers of spooky atmosphere over thumping beats to cast a spell on the dancefloor. "Under Control" is a fresh slice of demented funk -- a combo of skittering percussion, moaning ghosts and atonal chimes. "Lay Lie Lay" features a heated match of ping-pong between poltergeist sea monkeys, recorded live from the abyss inside Keanu Reeves' skull during the filming of The Day The Earth Stood Still.

After his groundbreaking debut album Focus On: Guido Schneider, Guido Schneider returns with a new stunning EP on Poker Flat. Transmission is even more proof of Guido's great production skills, presenting two excellent tracks which explore his signature sound even further. The title track "Transmission" is a pure rhythmic and percussive affair, showcasing a vast array of drums from kongas to bongos, and sticks to shakers to build a hypnotizing, highly energetic soundscape. A buzzing chant by Florian Schirmacher adds a sacral atmosphere to the track. "Halo" manoeuvers through mainly percussive terrain, but contains more impulsive and funky elements. Check the well-timed cue of the deep bassline -- this is ace and gives this track an extra claim to fame.

This is Berlin-based Guido Schneider's first full-length album. After four highly successful singles, Focus On presents an exciting new album-concept on Poker Flat. Alongside six new tracks, which are released simultaneously on vinyl, the album features a number of previously vinyl-only tracks and remixes which now appear on CD for the first time. On the CD-format, Guido mixes the tracks into 67 minutes of subtle flow that almost completely dissolves the borders of the individual tracks. Focus On features trippy vocal-hypnoses with ping-pong-percussions ("Too Many Voices") alongside streamlined pumping house-sketches ("Re-Moved"), flanger-curves reminiscent of the Plastikman releases ("Rumours") and spoiled dub (Brtschitsch & Galluzzi/"Regenschauer Remix"), all edited and mixed together into an extraordinary psychoactive sound cocktail of the premium quality grade. "I want to send my listeners on a journey based on hypnotic grooves, but I like to break through the flow of sound with irritating details," says Guido. Minimal house rarely sounded so impulsive and funky with such a perfect sound-architecture.
