AUS 918EP

Graham Goodwin aka Sian reveals two melodic shades on his fourth release for Aus. On "Red Cloud," delicate and wistful chords provide a haunting backdrop for his trademark undulating grooves. "World Within A World" provides an instantly-recognizable lead melody that propels the track euphorically forward. Minilogue turn in an epic remix that is hypnotic in the truest sense of its techno meaning. Few acts can make a 12-minute arrangement so captivating. A tribal trip if ever there was one.

"Graham Goodwin aka Sian is a Dublin native raised gypsy-style in southern Spain. As a self-confessed workaholic spaced-out nature junkie, his commitment to the avant garde lifestyle has seen him grace decks at the nicest clubs and festivals in the world. He's also released two albums and many singles on labels as diverse as Pokerflat, Dessous, Karmarouge, Dirtcrew and Einmaleins. The title track is a lush techno affair that nods to old Detroit, building with rasps, clicks and clocks that drive through purring fx and melodic chamber resonance. A gentle synth progression moves towards the finish through metallic block echos and whirring tones. Berlin deep house mogul Efdemin invokes a sublime transformation and heads straight for the Balearic islands. The swinging 4/4 beat builds steam with shakers suddenly illuminated by bright resonating chimes and mellow melodic pulses. The warm melody floats like a scented summer breeze over a wave of hi-hats, stabbed synth and salt shake shuffles. Sunshine on a rainy day! Efdemin recently released his debut album on his home, Dial Records, home to Pantha Du Prince, Lawrence and Carsten Jost."

OCT 001EP
|
With Gui Boratto remix. "Cerebral and modern, a little anti-establishment, somewhat guerilla-style. Octopus is the peculiar and artistic home of quite unusual producers, a common ground for diverse creations of techno, house, deep-whatever works when we are sweat-soaked and gliding at 5 a.m. A purposely limited selection and so slight in design and ethos, its artists, collaborators and remixers are handpicked and quirky talents like Sian,Tone Bano, Gui Boratto, Calculus, Mr Statik, 3Channels, Herve AK, Zentex, Laurine Frost and future signings Taras, MarkoJux and Seb Steimel. An unusual excursion through the current state of electronic music. First up is Sian, remixed by Gui Boratto. Raised gypsy-style from Dublin, Ireland to southern Spain, a nomadic existence, think of him as a hyper-active, mega output, workaholic, artist, label A&R, globe trotting DJ and composer and you get the basic idea. Sian produces consistently for Karmarouge, Gabriel Ananda's much-loved Koln imprint. He has also made notable records for Pokerflat, Einmaleins and Dessous. Gui, leader of the new breed of South American producers, and responsible for many of Kompakt's recent hits, turns 'Flood' into an epic, warm and truly ecstatic moment. His mix is both rough and clunky and so precise -- typical of this maestro of new school techno. A friend and inspiration since our first conversations, Gui was always first choice for remixing Octopus 001. The A-side is infectious, melodic and wonderfully refined, the B-side is more sublime, strange, melodic and introverted."

"New sub-label of Tic Tac Toe Records. We've established it to focus on all the brilliant sounds in the deep minimal house neighborhood. Born in Dublin Ireland, raised gypsy style in southern Spain, Sian aka Graham Goodwin chose early to drop out of society and into the world of music and art, committing 100% to the avant-garde way of life. He is now becoming a hot in-demand producer and DJ who mainly records for the Cologne-based Karmarouge label, but also Pokerflat and Dessous and now Connect Four. 'Juggernaut': The deep bass sounds and a crisp and cool bouncing beat marks the first track on the record -- a very nice and techy house track. 'Juggernaut (Satoshi Fumi Remix)': Sian did a great remix for Japanese Satoshi Fumi's release on Connect Four, and we thought it would be a nice idea that Satoshi returned the favor. With his fine tuned ear for deep emotions, Fumi has added more depth and lots of strings to his version of 'Juggernaut.'"

KARMA 023EP
|
"The master of simplicity is back on with his second release on Karmarouge. The story behind the title goes like this. Saint Patrick was a Christian missionary and is regarded as the patron saint of Ireland. He banished the snakes from Ireland and some Irish people say that human snakes replaced them. Sian asks himself if we might need a new modern Saint Patrick? The A-side track 'Stegosaurus' is a creepy, slow builder and melodic track, somewhat like a placid dinosaur. 'Merman' on the B-side is a more melancholic, angelic theme with hidden melodic patterns and messages. Born in Dublin Ireland, raised gypsy-style in southern Spain, Sian, aka Graham Goodwin has worked in music since the age of 17. Now 28, he has produced and released electronic music consistently and has worked with diverse artists during this period. His productions are arty, unique and childlike simple, he works with sounds as blocks of bright color and makes music for both the club and mind simultaneously. Sian believes that electronic music is more than just an interesting theory, it shapes lives and his DJ sets are well known for sweat, eclecticism and positive energy."

DIRT 014EP
|
Born in Dublin, Ireland -- raised gypsy style in southern Spain -- Sian aka Graham Goodwin has released on labels like Pokerflat, Dessous and Karmarouge. His production is arty, unique and childlike simple. He works with sounds as blocks of bright color and makes music for both the club and mind simultaneously, keeping his music intellectual whilst wrecking the dancefloor. The A-side "Robot in the Forest" is a dark minimal groover with a very powerful bassline that pumps its way through the solid and sparse beat programming. On the flip Sian follows a different formula, with a catchy melody laid on a fat tech house groove. The last track is smooth and atmospheric, with an almost sacred feeling and a flow of sweet strings and beautiful arrangements.

DES 061EP
|
2006 release. Dublin-based Sian aka Graham Goodwin delivers his debut Dessous single, Cinematheque, an exciting 3-track EP. The A-side's title track starts with a dark bass and a special rave-line, leading through banging claps and sharp hi-hats for an ecstatic moment on the dancefloor. The B-side boasts "Praymantis," a track reminiscent of old 808 State tracks, but stripped down to modern and soulful acid house. "Domina" rounds off this versatile EP with an oldschool house feeling. Overall, a smart and relaxed journey from peak time to afterhour sessions.
