"Second Octopus is Mr. Statik with an excellent 3 Channels remix. Statik is a Greek gentleman of some refinement, his tracks caught our ear on Mathias Schaffhauser's Ware imprint as part of the MudMax duo and his talent for combining careful modern production and late night hysteria drew us to him as a future roster artist. Then we come to 3 Channels, who have blown up on Crosstown Rebels and Trapez and their own imprint, Channel. Their DJ sets kick ass all over the place and their remixes, from Claude Vonstroke to Decryptor have proved them as the bright stars of the European house movement. This mix is inspired, relentless, unusually energetic and yet typically 3 Channels, aimed straight into the heat and haze of the night."

With Gui Boratto remix. "Cerebral and modern, a little anti-establishment, somewhat guerilla-style. Octopus is the peculiar and artistic home of quite unusual producers, a common ground for diverse creations of techno, house, deep-whatever works when we are sweat-soaked and gliding at 5 a.m. A purposely limited selection and so slight in design and ethos, its artists, collaborators and remixers are handpicked and quirky talents like Sian,Tone Bano, Gui Boratto, Calculus, Mr Statik, 3Channels, Herve AK, Zentex, Laurine Frost and future signings Taras, MarkoJux and Seb Steimel. An unusual excursion through the current state of electronic music. First up is Sian, remixed by Gui Boratto. Raised gypsy-style from Dublin, Ireland to southern Spain, a nomadic existence, think of him as a hyper-active, mega output, workaholic, artist, label A&R, globe trotting DJ and composer and you get the basic idea. Sian produces consistently for Karmarouge, Gabriel Ananda's much-loved Koln imprint. He has also made notable records for Pokerflat, Einmaleins and Dessous. Gui, leader of the new breed of South American producers, and responsible for many of Kompakt's recent hits, turns 'Flood' into an epic, warm and truly ecstatic moment. His mix is both rough and clunky and so precise -- typical of this maestro of new school techno. A friend and inspiration since our first conversations, Gui was always first choice for remixing Octopus 001. The A-side is infectious, melodic and wonderfully refined, the B-side is more sublime, strange, melodic and introverted."
