MANUAL 006EP
|
"That Manual Music is a label without boundaries gets confirmed even more with this new release. Jesse Somfay is a talented youngster from Ontario, Canada who already did some impressive releases on labels such as Traum and Archipel. His previous tracks were featured on mix CDs by the likes of Sven Väth and Michael Mayer next to many others. At present he is working on his debut album which will be released on Archipel in the first half of 2007. Let us remind you: this guy is only 20 years old! With 'Cygnus Wreath (Room 531)' Jesse takes you on an 11-minute epic journey through floating emotic soundscapes and deep electronic rhythms. This is a true masterpiece! But a fine release wouldn't be complete without some outstanding remixes. Therefore we've asked Avus to do a remix. He has lifted out one of many melodic elements of the original, and has created a floating deep minimalistic techy remix. To finish the release off in style, label owner Paul Hazendonk added his dark and dubby dub mix for those who like it deep and proggy! We hope you enjoy the music as much as we do!"

TRAUM 065EP

"The Canadian Jesse Somfay, an all dressed in black musician with shoulder length blond hair and razor sharp dialogues, cuts though with a twisted, big time sound. His second Traum release We Breathe the Stars Through Each Other is a great momentum of a throbbing, energetic flow of energy...emerging in a modern version of Velvet Underground's 'While Light White Heat.' Jesse's tracks are digital feedback club music, relentless and without fear, endless, limited to nothing but its sounds and resources... A cosmic avalanche... A wall of sound...a signal of life ...communication! 'This Fragile Addiction' is an epic, drugged out, mental journey into a world full of nothing but warm, enveloping and shimmering sunlight reminiscent of shoegaze bands like My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and Lush and also space rock bands such as Sigur Ros and Explosions In the Sky. 'For One Brief Moment, I Was There' is a melancholy cloud of crisp and chilling melodies with shattered and stuttering percussion. Jesse brings together his favorite spacy indie rock sounds with the drive of electronic dance music to bring a completely unique and ecstatic experience to the dance floor. His only goal is to make quality emotionally thrilling music which is completely genre defying. We Breathe The Stars Through Each Other has a lot in common with James Holden and Friends working on sounds, overtaking the whole track killing minimal music for a second. But his tracks also reveal some of the past of minimal music and how it used to be with techno."

"Born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, Jesse belongs geographically to the fine small group of Canadian people (Deadbeat/Akufen etc) around exploring electronic dance. But he is different. Traum is happy to present his second Canadian shooting star since Akufen and a big talent, Jesse Somfay. Jesse Somfay has started to produce electronic dance since 2000 and has had a chance to develop his DJ skills since then. Creating a moving , emotional experience by creating epic, layered tracks full of well crafted rhythm and finely knit melodies, distinguishes him from many of todays artists and builds an international emotional alliance with people such as Nathan Fake and Holden from Border Community. Jesse currently hosts an online radio show at livesets.com where he plays two hour sets of finely fitted minimal and deep Tech house. He is dedicated to creating a moving experience where tracks are not just heard, but are felt. This is also how he feels about producing."
