TRAPEZ 084EP

This is Alex Tsiridis' debut on the Trapez label, and it is a techno rocker. "Rubber Suit" is panic-stricken and claustrophobic with a heavy bass line that creates nervous energy. "Suasion" is a cool Chicago groover with a resemblance to Mike Dunn's "Magic Feet" and his colleagues, but with a nice modern sound. A cool, understated track plus moments of losing control.

"'Bouzouki Several' is one of the most distinctive sounding tracks you will hear this winter and comes courtesy of newcomer Alex Tsiridis. Based around the resonating tones of a traditional Greek bouzouki the track evolves irresistibly, slowly overwhelming the listener who is caught somewhere between the pumping linear groove of the rhythm section and the intense dynamics of the bouzouki samples. The attention to detail is impressive, as are the layers of sound that Tsiridis builds up using his own vocal efx. The crunchy textures, crackles and pops are all self-generated adding further freakiness to the mayhem. Taut as an archer's bow, the tension gradually builds towards a real head fuck of a breakdown -- the psychedelics kick in, time spins out sideways and the bouzouki riff goes into digital meltdown. There's no letting up on the flip side, either, as the monolithic 'Ballpoint' pushes the boat out even further. Reminiscent of The Emperor Machine, the minimal 4/4 drum pattern is slowly enveloped in a wash of shimmering percussion, distorted synth lines, retro basslines and trademark vocal efx."
