RELEASE DATE
9/18/2015
The 2009 debut self-titled album by Bristol-based project
Emptyset
(
James Ginzburg
and
Paul Purgas
), reissued here, formed the initial departure for the duo's ongoing exploration of time, structure, and analog technology. The album highlights the project's development and the foundation of its studio-based production process, forming the first part of a triptych spanning
Demiurge
(SUB 001CD/010LP, 2011) and
Recur
(R-N 151CD, 2013).
Emptyset
creates the first point within this narrative, initiating a dialogue between full-frequency audio, noise, and the emergent properties of sound, and the starting point for their contained sonic approach.
