"Not a lot of people could have missed the launch of a brand new label at the end of 2005; Manual Music. The first release Robot Food by Swedish wonderkid Pet Ter has conquered the international dance circuit in no time and is still tearing up dancefloors worldwide. From Richie Hawtin to Monika Kruse, from Dominik Eulberg to Laurent Garnier and from Kiki to Pascal Feos, they are all playing this anthem week in week out. The first pressing of the second Manual Music release, 'Now Less Sugar' by Gideon, was also sold out in no time. The peaktime remix John Dahlback made for this release under his Huggot Ron guise might have helped a little. With numerous talented international artists working on the next releases, the future for Manual Music looks to be a bright one! Manual Music is a sublabel from the long existing Dutch independent record company Basic Beat and is run by the 24 year old Rotterdam based DJ/producer Paul Hazendonk. Paul Hazendonk is mainly known as being a techno DJ, because he has played at numerous (international) techno events over the last years. He's also running several techno labels and has mixed two techno CDs in the past: Technique (2002) and Taste (2004). What a lot of people don't know however is that he has always been playing house, tech-house and such at smaller parties ever since he started. With the success of his Manual Music label the time has come to show a bigger audience the 'other side' of Paul Hazendonk with his third mix compilation, Sound Shifting. Sound Shifting features 17 tracks by artists such as Gabriel Ananda, Oliver Hacke, Huggotron, Jeff Bennett , Pet Ter, Lemon8, but also deeper works from techno artists such as Dave Ellesmere, Gaetano Parisio and Valentino Kanzyani. It's impossible to label the sound of this mix compilation in one category. It's a blend of house, techhouse, minimal, prog and deep, melodic techno. To keep it short: Manual Music sound!"
