"Matteo Spedicati (Leftout/Mindshake) returns for his second release on Gumption, backed up by a superb late night excursion from Mark Henning (Clever/Trapez/Foundsound/etc). Both versions of 'Il Fantasma di Hobanubi' have been ripping up selected dancefloors over the summer and if you're familiar with either of these guys' sounds then you'll know exactly why. On the dog side, Mark Henning rethinks the track into a completely different dimension, choosing to strip it down before rebuilding it with layer upon layer of subliminal fx, crisp percussion sequences and phat, funked-up sub basslines. Dark, eerie but supremely cool -- the pulsing groove is carried forward by all manner of clicks, cuts and stuttering hi-hat sequences before falling away amid a wash of white noise and ghostly echoes that bring on the type of rush that will cause collective mayhem between the speaker stacks. Over on the flip, Matteo's original version is a hi-octane adventure that slowly emerges from a dense forest of tripped-out bleeps and jagged percussion."
