"Nick's involvement with techno began in the early '90s as a young member of the Toronto rave scene. It wasn't until 2002 that Nick began to concentrate primarily on electronic production. After much success with co-productions of Detroit flavors and landing on Carl Craig's Fabric compilation, Nick shifted his focus and began anew, working under the Tun moniker with long time friend Lawrence Horton. Watson is Nick's first solo project. Growing out of a collection of personal work, music under the Watson moniker is a more melodically-induced, memory-driven sound whose strength lies in subtlety and emotional honesty, in stark contrast the usually heavy hand of techno. This journey-like narrative is a key part in every arrangement, finding time to express small emotions within the larger energy of each composition. This nearly 12 minute lasting anthem -- wait for the breakdown! -- is an astoundingly deep, slow-building killer which is going to appeal not only the fans of Planet E or early Mathew Jonson releases. This is Detroit updated with flair and innovation. Tolga Fidan from the Vakant squad adds his moody, jazzy slant to the track, less anthemic than Watson and a nice alternative."
