The Abstract Matters duo returns after releasing the hottest title on the Cynosure label in 2014, their self-titled debut EP (CYN 096EP) -- with regular play from legends like Derrick May and Danny Tenaglia. The follow-up is sure to land the similar crates and rock dancefloors from Ibiza to Detroit. This EP delivers a combination of raw and rock-solid techno grooves that border on the familiar or old school but maintain the contemporary sensibility that makes a proper techno 12".

After a year spent perfecting his sound and style, Andrea Fiorito makes his highly-anticipated return to Cynosure Recordings with Voodoo Grooves, the first of a two-part EP series that fuses funk, dub, and minimal with elements of analog house music straight from the New York City underground. Inspired by a recent pilgrimage to South America, Voodoo Grooves borrows from the sounds of the Amazon, the flavor of Cuban Santería, and the spirit of the rainforest in its warm, grounded basslines and hypnotic loops.

Dewalta & Shannon have teamed up for their most twisted combination of techno to date. The shuffled funk of "Capitaloid" takes you straight into the deep depths of the warped afterhour soundtrack. So many details swirl about, including subtle vocals mumbling in the background about finance, with morphing wave table digital funk and analog bass power driving the groove. "Jus Wanna" takes things up a notch with a harsh, over-compressed groove and a mean-ass grinding bass line. Lastly, "Under Your Tongue" has the downbeat acid touch. A tip of the hat to the sounds of Plastikman and Speedy J on this one.

Uruguayan Guillermo Miranda delivers a bomb combination of chunky house groove and futurist techno sound design with this EP for Cynosure. Guille doesn't waste time and bangs the box with style on "My Doin." Some very punchy drums served up with a tasty synth hook makes a mean techno house meal. "Legal in Uruguay" is a slick, shuffled, bong-influenced, techno burner. Some additional production from Mike Shannon shines in a few familiar areas while Guille comes with a massively catchy hook that drops at about three minutes in. "Dragones y otro cosas" has a slinky groove that leads to a mind puzzle of a breakdown.

Mike Shannon throws another volley of monster techno. "Gravitron" is the A-side named after a cheap amusement park ride that spins its passengers inside a wheel faster and faster until they are all floating off the ground. Playing this track at 100 dB should also give the listener the same effect. "Valosel 4000" is a phase-shifted bass monster. With a chest-hitting kick, this track takes hold of a spacious, wave table bass line that connects the listener with a sound influenced from early '90s UK techno/hardcore but weaves its reference into a complex maze of compression and dynamics only found in the music of the future.

Mike Shannon has revived Cynosure Recordings after a two-year hibernation, and its revenge has come with a focus on Mike's solo productions and collaborations. Reset, Bleep begins to count backwards to where its roots began. "Bleep Back" is a deep bass monster with some morphing wave table trickery. Following is "Serge Up," a super-dry and crunchy minimal house number produced with the famous Serge Modular system. "Bleep Forward" is an alternate mix of the A1 track, featuring Evan Baggs.

Swiss producers Wandler & Mastra are no strangers to the formula that most DJs seek when hunting for the bombs necessary to make a set magical. A-side "Kassandra" lifts things off the ground with a mystical groove and bass line that swells and subtly evolves into a peak time shuffler. "Scrabble" also morphs into a bouncing euphoria, this time by way of a filtered, minimal groove. "Scharlotte Dub" nods respect to the dub techno sound and pays homage to Berlin's Chain Reaction camp.

Toronto-based Noah Pred brings back the funk with his clever brand of booty-shakin' techno house. Noah's style has gone through many stages of evolution, having recorded for a ton of different labels over the years from Consigned, Intrinsic and Morris Audio to his own imprint, Thoughtless. This collection of tracks is by far his grooviest work to date, with funky drums, hip-flexin' bass and a blinding lead hook.

Martin TC is a former member of the now-defunct Monoblock project and proves again that it's all about the cutting-edge of modern funkiness, delivering an ultra-funky, jazz-injected techno bomb of an EP. "In Situ" is an exploration in Chicago-style jack combined with a keen sense of Latin groove and "Al Fin y Al Cabo" and "Vice Versa" are an excellent reminder that techno jazz is still here and that the swing will never die.

Cynosure presents a killer collaborative project by label head Mike Shannon and Berlin producer David DeWalta. This offering leans on the darker edge of syncopated synth-funk. "No Rest For The Wicked" is a swinging, shifty groove, full of razor-sharp analog synth work. "Joe Louis" features a deep groove that powers the train of a lead synth-line that explodes into a killer, swinging hi-hat line. A great track to bridge the gap between peak-time and deep-time.

Delivering some grooves inspired by the warmth of the summer, Brett Johnson and Mike Shannon come together to cook up some BBQ. "BBQ Bounce" features a playful Brett Johnson-style groove and a bubbling Mike Shannon-style lead synth that builds to a monster walking bass line drop. "My Way Home" is a house burner with the added sultry vocal stylings of Amsterdam's Coco Jones -- a perfect combo of the two producers' signature styles of mutated swing and razor-sharp synths.

No stranger to straight-up, tracky techno, the cuts on Adam Marshall's third Cynosure release are pure evidence of his familiarity with the genre. "Searching" is the slick, DJ-friendly jacker reminiscent of Detroit's early sound. A relentless -- but never tiring -- deep analog bass sequence, backed with Marshall's signature grooves, is the recipe here. "Jamming The Unit" is another workout designed for the long-mix, followed by the kick-less Basic Channel-influenced builder, entitled "Champion." A perfect weapon in any techno set.

Moderato Zoologico starts off with "Escape From Myself," a fire-starter of a groove with a slight nod to house music's past, the track's percussion builds up to a climax and then drops you into a twisted state of deepness. "Zoraida" features the sweet and innocent vocal style of Amelia Saul, slow-building percussion leads you up to a plateau of shimmering, deep synths and Rhodes electric piano that leaves you hanging for minutes, then dropping you into a silky-smooth, blissful world.

Cynosure label-head Mike Shannon offers uncompromising dance music both with his DJ sets and with his label. It seems all too fitting after a decade of living in the shadows that Shannon, the master of the piss-take and techno's Prince of Cats, should choose to deliver the label-anthem "Under The Radar." Featuring vocals by singer Fadila, and remixes from Ricardo Villalobos, Deadbeat, and Rozzo of Mountain People, this celebratory anniversary release is one certain to outgrow its cheeky title. File under: crucial. Gatefold sleeve.

"Over the years Naples, Italy has always been a hot spot for incredible dancefloor techno house. Recently the re-formation of the city's freshest production duo (Massi DL and Dario Di Pace) was brought to the attention of Cynosure recordings. Of course we jumped on this release immediately and are very proud to present Horacio Is Back. 'Durango' is a sure fire, tried, tested and true bomb. A stunning combination of jackin' New York basement style house with the finest side of 'Basic channel' Berlin style techno. A sound palette that, when combined correctly, is most definitely explosive on the dancefloor. Nuff said. 'Horacio Is Back Again' hits with some familiar old school style house. Very much influenced by New York; again this track really pays homage to some of the best moments of NYC house. But Horacio gives it the fresh Naples Italian flavor that takes the classic sound a step further. This track is nothing but a summer time burner."

"Cynosure flag ship artist and label navigator Mike Shannon reaches into his archives and selects the much-anticipated The Box EP. 'The Box Is Open' was always a highlight of many of Mr. Shannon's DJ sessions and live acts. This cut delivers nostalgic, old school of Detroit, soulful, techno jack. A ton to digest there but there really is no other way to sum it up. Adam Marshall graces the EP with a stormer of a remix. Taking things a step further, Adam really explores a different use of the chords given to you in the original. A smooth kicking set of drums and ever elevating sequences of synth keep you on your toes never really knowing exactly when things will drop. Definitely a production trait that Adam is best known for and it never fails on the floor."

"The endless white of the far north. The opening melodies of Adam Marshall's North at Night can be heard faintly over the whistling wind. A small black dot appears at the centre of the distant horizon. At first it appears to be still, but gradually we recognize movement. Over the next few minutes the shape begins to grow until it has defined the image of a man walking towards us. As he approaches, the music grows clearer. Like the warmth of the first sunlight, 'Rose Mountain' radiates its glow through the use of a flurry of Rhodes electric piano chords. Adam's signature percussion permeates the dub and binds its elements into an infectious groove. 'MFB Flex' is the counter balance to the organic flow of the other cuts and molts the warmth into a techno roller designed for the long player mix."

"Cynosure is proud to present the debut EP of one of Italy's finest house and techno DJs, Andrea Fiorito. Hailing from the Southern city of Bari, Andrea brings new warmth to the otherwise ice cold Italian house sound and delivers a timeless deep house original. Things commence on 'Moderato Mistico' with a subtle tribute to a close friend that has some serious issues with partying called 'Boti World.' A stripped-down minimal house groove with several different monster bass hooks. A killer bumping, grinding, walking bass line that heats the floor with every change up. But as we all know, this is not enough to really push things to the limit, so Andrea answers the call and brings the fury with Givan on the sax. Imagine that moment where things in your night boil over the edge and you begin to lose control. That's when Givan's post-punk style sax attack begins to push things past the threshold of insanity. Next we have the lovely 'Betty Loop,' featuring the sensual voice Amelia Saul. A layer of percussion a la Spring reverb set the pace, leading into some piano chords and a giant bass hook that make up the foundation of the groove, laying the sonic rose pedals down for Amelia's presence to be heard. With a voice sweeter than honey and some twisted lyrics, she creates a sexy yet warped feeling in this track. And of course, if the vocals were too much, you can play the dub version 'Betty Goes To Gio' and mix your heart out. With Moderato Mystico, Andrea Fiorito lights the deep minimal house flame for Cynosure, producing heat that only a Southern Italian can."

"The Boys from Uruguay are back with another burner of an EP. Monoblock's debut EP was in everyone's crate that knew anything about minimal techno and was rocked in sets from DJ Bobo to Richie Hawtin. Since then the boys have been one of the most sought after live acts in the world and continue to help keep the genre alive by delivering some seriously funky techno. The EP starts off with the ultra funky Roller called 'Rizco.' Not wasting any time Monoblock get right to it and roll out a carpet of percussion backed with some signature bouncing analog bass. A perfect combination of sounds running up and down the scale. Continuing down the same path, things strip back a little here with 'Dobason,' a more playful cut with the focus on the overdriven lead bass. Our old friends the 808 and 909 are there to play in the mix too. Then things in this track take a little melodic left turn and explore a dissonant direction that somehow leads you right back to where you started. Finally leaving you in the deep with 'Ombù,' a subterranean mixture sounding like Basic Channel meets Gotan project. A dreamy plucked synth soaked in reverb dances around some Uruguay style accordion and sequences of percussion. Molting with a deep sub roll and delayed chord stabs this track definitely shows off the musical abilities of this duo. Once again Monoblock write another EP that is sure to resonate on dancefloors worldwide this summer."

"Brett Johnson is a household name in house music synonymous with super groovy, hip flexin' productions. We got in touch with Brett and begged for a little more of the funk and he came back to us with The Pop Up. Things kick off with a full-blown Chicago-style jack attack on the A-side with 'Sling Blade.' A rolling house groove, walking bass line and a low rez digital hook are the main ingredients here with some flashback induced effects sending things over the edge. Speaking of flashbacks, on the second cut 'The Way We Were' takes things back 20 years paying homage to the deep sound of the mid-'80s. Pimpin' ain't easy. Saving the best for last, Brett serves up his signature house sound with 'Space.' A bouncing melodic hook keeps popping up alongside some old school funk-packed bass, fused together with an underlie of groovy swung percussion. Things bubble and bounce up to beautiful melody that hit a mark that many house productions today fail to touch. And if all the melody was too much for you, well you've got the stripped-down 'Basstrumental' dub version to satisfy your mix. These cuts from Brett prove that certain classic elements of house will never die and never get tired. But he also proves that those elements can continue to be explored and redefined."

"With a mystical nature Ido's musical touch wields both finesse and raw force displayed perfectly on side A with 'Rangun.' A combination of Roland 808 and CR-78 lay the percussive carpet for a lush ménage of melodic bone like percussion, classic strings and haunting Bermese vocals. Most definitely one of the most original tracks we've heard in some time. On the flip with 'Bpyinmana' Oshkopun follows up with a frenzy of classic drums a la CR-78 thrown into a cocktail of effects and edits that fizz over into a perfect drum dub. A tracky workout perfect for the most adventurous of DJs. Fans of ethno techno, traditional Burmese vocals, classic Roland drums and ultra funky edits will welcome this EP like sunshine on a rainy day. Most definitely an EP to eclipse your winter darkness and bring your spring into full swing. Searching for Ido? Ido Oshkopun can also be found on Hartchef Discos."

"Hailing from the midlands of Argentina's Cordoba, Ernesto Ferreyra's musical past is fruitful with many years under his belt as a DJ. Holding down residencies from Mexico City to Montreal, Ernest is no stranger to the mix and makes it very clear on the Éxodo EP. One half of Montreal's Chic Miniature, Ferreyra wields the right combination organic southern hemisphere style percussion with synthesized drums and a volley of monophonic madness that will surely activate the floor. The last 'Shooter' uses mind-bending funk to tell the story of three people ending an epic day/night in a blaze of Jagermeister glory. The most descriptive element of this tracky adventure would be the misguided, off-kilter synth twists that give the listener the illusion of drunkenness and vertigo. Backed with a spine of Latin percussion and tweaked low rez hi-hats this A-side packs a punch that can be only compared to 'the last shooter' of the night. Funk flows on when you flip it to side B. 'Fongtom' rides along with a thick walking bass line that weaves grinds with some of Ferreyra's signature percussion. A playful melody serves as the memory game hook that won't fade away even after a post joint meltdown or a night of MTV Top 40 abuse. Smoother than silk, sweeter than honey, Ernesto Ferreyra's Éxodo shines a new light on the Argentine minimal sound."
