Alex Olson aka Balearic Skip, a professional skateboarder, now has a record on Jolly Jams. As the progeny of the skateboard pioneer Steve Olson, he first learned to ride at age 12. By 19 he was skating professionally, giving him the rarefied distinction of being the first second-generation professional skateboarder. In 2005 he signed a sponsorship deal with Girl Skateboards, one of the most prestigious skate companies. A few years ago, he parted ways with Girl Skateboards to work with Louis Vuitton, Vans and his current sponsor, Nike.

Unsurprisingly, Richard Galling, does indeed hail from Milwaukee, and he has been releasing disco-inspired jams since about 2012. His latest offering is this single that features two original tracks and some remixes too. "303" features the eponymous bass machine all over this deep, arpeggio-heavy tech-disco jam. "Organ" swaps the 303 for a classic Robin S-style house organ, and Prophet adds some big room bass. Also included is a Prophet version of "Clear Water", a real late '80s, Shep Pettibone-style, Latin house joint. Luke Solomon's "Body Edit" is absolute dancefloor heat.

Promo Only - Jolly Jams's 31st release. Brand new four track. A side opens up with a classic Chi- town fueled house tune which is one can only describe as peak time. The second track eases into more familiar territory with bucket loads of blue eyed soul and acid rhythm sounds like a track that Ron Hardy would have played at The Muzic Box. Track three is a bona fide underground disco track, sounding like the German disco band Superamx. Track four is a simple, but instrumental, groovy, rub-a-dub tune.

Tiago, a Portuguese pioneer blending all kinds of music, is synonymous with Lisbon's underground Trust night at Lux. He's released twisted tracks consistently since the mid-2000s, on labels like Jolly Jams, Public Possession, and his own Interzona13. He epitomizes how the art of quality disco, house, and techno music should be done. In these glutted days of cut-and-paste edits, his care, passion, and talent harken back to the origins of the musical movement. With his extensive discography, Tiago has played a vital role in the reawakening of love and interest in the various shades of leftfield dance music across the world.

It's tempting to concentrate on Felix Dickinson's history -- his ten years DJing for the LifeForce parties in Japan or his DJing and touring achievements during the early formation of the UK House scene -- but to concentrate on these things is to miss the point. Dickinson continues to champion underground music via his myriad musical guises and aliases (including Foolish & Sly, L.H.A.S. Inc., Das Etwas, and Bastedos) on labels like DFA, Eskimo, Rush Hour, International Feel, and his own Cynic Music. It's Dickinson's absolute dedication to music, parties, and dancing that has allowed him to remain consistently relevant.

DJ Kaos is back with another installment of beautiful disco music for 2013 in the form of Swoop. "Swoop" is comprised of sublime echo-drenched drums 'n' percussion, with shredding electric guitar and a twisted piano melody. "Swoop" builds and builds with some ZZ Top sunrise-rock guitar solos and rising synth melodies. From then on in, DJ Kaos just extends your ecstasy with the blissed-out keys and trippy bass line. On the flip, LEXX switches on the flux capacitor and punches 1984 into the dial with his Larry Heard-inspired "Swoop Dub Fix," a sprawling remix that begins in ambient form before entering the realms of hypno house.
