"The legendary Detroit band. Their first single (included here as extra tracks) was released in 1967, they went on to be the 'Official White Panther Party Band' preaching revolutionary ideology alongside dope, sex and r'n'r. They played the infamous 1968 Democratic Convention that turned into a police riot. Their manager, John Sinclair became a hippie martyr after being jailed for ten years for two joints, inspiring John Lennon's '10 For 2' song. They were thrown off their first label, Electra, and signed to Atlantic for two more albums. Now greatly revered as one of the seminal rock'n'roll bands and a huge inspiration for punk. Thunder Express documents their first and last studio work -- six tracks recorded in France in '72 at Studio Castle Herouville for a TV show; plus four tracks from their first two singles from '66 and '68. The title track is a previously unreleased song unavailable elsewhere. Two extra tracks from the rare earliest single 'Borderline,' are added. Includes inner bag with notes and interview from 1970, and the White Panther Party '10-Point Program.'"

"The Heartbreakers' 1977 classic album L.A.M.F.: The lost '77 mixes -- reissued in transparent purple vinyl. 2017 remaster. Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan formed the Heartbreakers in 1975 out of the ashes of the New York Dolls. Firstly, they were together with Richard Hell, and then teamed up with Billy Rath and Walter Lure. Malcolm McLaren, who'd managed the Dolls, invited them join the Sex Pistols, Clash, and Damned in the UK for the infamous 'Anarchy' tour in 1976. Staying in London at the heart of the punk scene for the following year, they signed to Track Records and recorded L.A.M.F. The album was acclaimed as a classic, but was famously flawed with a 'muddy mix' caused by a mastering fault. A properly audible version remained unheard until 1994 when Jungle sifted through the original master-tapes and reconstructed it. It was remastered to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2017, but has only been available in black vinyl since. Johnny had died in 1991, quickly followed by Jerry's death in 1992. Bassist Billy Rath died in 2014 and guitarist and co-front-person Walter Lure died in 2020. Their influence on the punk scene in 1977 has permeated through to today's new rock'n'roll scene, with many artists over the years citing L.A.M.F. as a huge influence. The album regularly appears in lists of the Best Punk Albums, such as in both Mojo and Q, and songs like 'Born to Lose,' 'Chinese Rocks,' and 'One Track Mind' are now acclaimed as punk anthems. This vinyl album comes in a gatefold sleeve with notes by Thunders and New York Dolls biographer Nina Antonia."

"The fifth UK Subs studio album, from 1983, remastered -- not available on CD for years. With extra tracks from singles; and now with bonus CD Gross-Out USA -- plus three never-before released demo tracks, in an all-card six-panel sleeve with unseen band photos. Albums F and G in the UK Subs A-Z series of albums. The album came at a crossroads for the UK Subs. Punk had become unfashionable, and the early line-ups had split leaving Charlie Harper to form a new band. He enlisted early Subs bassist Steve Slack (who'd left before their first recordings, replaced by his brother), drummer Steve Jones and guitarist Captain Scarlet. Navigating between the UK Subs punk ethos and wider accessible music, with many songs co-written by Slack and Scarlet, Charlie's lyrics reflected the current political paranoia of an Orwellian future, alongside hedonistic punk tales of life lived and characters met along the road. The album successfully led the band to decades of world tours and continue the now-legendary A-Z series of albums. Although the current band have given up lengthy tours, since Charlie's 80th birthday they still reconvene regularly for festivals and shorter excursions."

"Remastered and repackaged in a six-panel card package with newly discovered photos. Debuting with their 1977 tour with The Clash, The Slits were known for their uncompromising attitude and aggressive and confrontational music in a time when most bands were male. To this day they are cited as being hugely inspiring to many female artists. But their seminal Island Records 1979 debut album Cut, with its infamous sleeve featuring the band members naked and caked in mud, does not capture the true energy and spontaneity as well as these live recordings do. The album spans from an early, chaotic punk-era show which includes their classics such as 'Shoplifting', 'New Town' and 'Love & Romance', shows how they evolved into their dubby, reggae-influenced style with songs such as 'Typical Girls', and finishes with a track from their last ever performance in 1981."

"Over a span of 15 years, a total of 24 tracks were released as singles, with the majority being non-album tracks. This special release is pressed on transparent yellow vinyl and features a double-LP gatefold sleeve adorned with a collage featuring all the band line-ups and members from the period. These singles were originally recorded for Fall Out Records/Jungle between 1983 and 1998, predominantly consisting of non-album singles. Bringing together tracks from six singles and EPs for the first time, this compilation offers a comprehensive look at the band's prolific output during this era. The sleeve art for this collection is sourced from an unreleased single, adding to its rarity and appeal. As the UK Subs celebrate the completion of their A-Z series of albums and 45 years of continuous touring, this release serves as a fitting tribute to their enduring legacy."

"Magenta vinyl. The Heartbreakers (Johnny Thunders, Walter Lure, Billy Rath, and Jerry Nolan) with four studio demo sessions for 1976 and 1977, compiled onto one album for the first time. Two sessions were recorded in 1976 in New York, including four tracks in their early incarnation with Richard Hell, and later six tracks after Billy Rath had joined on bass. In London in 1977, they recorded one session just prior to signing with Track Records, and another after L.A.M.F. had been released, with The Clash's Terry Chimes on drums replacing the newly departed Jerry Nolan. Pressed on transparent magenta vinyl, it comes with a 12" poster of the Roberta Bayley cover photo, an outtake from the L.A.M.F. cover session, and an inner bag with Walter Lure interviewed by Johnny Thunders' biographer Nina Antonia in 2005. The album shows the development of the band building towards their classic 1977 L.A.M.F. album (recently reissued with a newly found original master), and further points to the direction they would have gone had they not split up."

"Action Pact were a punk rock band from Stanwell, a small village under the flight-path of London Heathrow Airport, inspiring the song this album takes for its title. Formed in 1981 with guitarist Wild Planet, bassist Dr. Phibes, and then 15-year-olds drummer Joe Fungus and singer George Cheex, who got the job because of 'her courage to scream along with the band's songs.' Both George and Joe were still attending school when the Heathrow Touchdown EP was released in October, 1981. The band got the attention of BBC DJ John Peel. He played the single many times and booked them to record their first session. The EP and Peel session tape caught the attention of the fledgling label Fall Out Records, a subsidiary of Jungle, who signed the band as the first act on their roster. Action Pact's label debut, the Suicide Bag EP was released in July 1982 and rocketed to the top of the British punk chart. Drummer Grimly Fiendish and bassist Thistles later joined the band, and their producer Phil Langham (of The Dark) provided bass for a short while under the name Elvin Pelvin. Dr. Phibes continued to contribute his insightful lyrics to the band. A series of five more singles entered the indie charts including 'Yet Another Dole Queue Song', and a reworked 'London Bouncers', along with two albums, Mercury Theatre - On The Air and Survival of the Fattest. A second Peel session, and a David Jensen BBC session were also recorded. They gigged around the UK and in Europe, including with bands like the Newtown Neurotics, whose Steve Drewett featured on one of their singles. They called it a day after four years, around 1985/6."

"The classic Johnny & Patti album Copy Cats from 1988, reissued on its 35th anniversary. An acclaimed, affectionate collection of tunes that the expatriate New York pair grew up with, it features songs by The Shangri-La's, Dion, Elvis, The Seeds, The Shirelles, Roy Head, and Screaming Jay Hawkins amongst others. Johnny is of course the late New York Doll and Heartbreaker notorious rock legend; his pal Patti is half of punk girl duo Snatch as well as being an Eno and Flying Lizards collaborator. The positive reaction on its release was unanimous; DJs John Peel and Charlie Gillett both declared it to be 'better than the originals!' With Patti in the producer's chair, the extended 1987 sessions enlisted well over 20 musicians including real brass and strings players to create a meticulously crafted homage to the originals. Whilst stamping the duos own personalities on the songs, this thorough and conscientious project is also in high contrast to Johnny's often-wayward live persona. The singles 'Crawfish,' 'I Was Born To Cry,' and 'She Wants To Mambo' were issued as highlights. The assembled players included guitarist John Perry (Only Ones), bassist Robbie A. Gordon (Gil Scott Heron band), keyboardist Bob Andrews (The Rumour, Brinsley Schwartz), guest backing vocals by Chrissie Hynde and Jayne County, violinist Alex Balanescu, brass section Jim Dvorak, Nick Evans, and John 'Irish' Earle, percussionist Pedro Ortiz, drummer Steve Washington, Heartbreakers Billy Rath and Jerry Nolan, plus numerous others."

"Metallic KO is the remarkable album of Iggy & The Stooges confrontational 'last ever gig' (until their reunion almost 30 years later). Effectively the fourth Stooges album with then brand new and unheard songs, it was released in 1976 three years after Raw Power while Iggy was in limbo. Soon after the gig Iggy checked into a mental hospital. The sound of kamikaze Iggy provocatively abusing his audience and then dodging eggs and bottles thrown by a biker gang enhanced Iggy's reputation in the embryonic punk scene as the punk godfather. Nothing like it had been heard before. It became a must-have album and far out-sold the first three Stooges albums, with sales of over 100,000. It is now reissued with the original LP tracklist -- previously it had been extended to a double-CD with the complete 1973 and 1974 shows it is taken from. In the 2007 re-mastering, an original tape-speed error was discovered and corrected -- so now for the first time the album can be heard at the correct pitch. The booklet contains Iggy Pop's story of the events surrounding the gigs as well as contemporaneous reports from Nick Kent, Giovanni Dadomo and Lester Bangs. An essential album for any Iggy fan. Nick Kent said: 'I'm convinced that side two is a masterpiece,' and Lester Bangs said: 'It's the only rock album I know where you can actually hear hurled beer bottles breaking against guitar strings.'"

"The March Violets came from Leeds in the early '80s, label-mates of Sisters of Mercy. Constantly at the heights of the UK indie singles charts, the singles were the base for successful compilations in the UK and USA. Signing to a major, they had two songs featured in a John Hughes' movie -- but split up before an album was completed. Twenty-five years later they reconvened, making tours of the UK and USA. A single and video of 'Dandelion King' was issued in 2011. Unfinished business included an album, and Made Glorious was given a release in 2013 via an over-subscribed Pledge Music campaign. Fans got access to a very limited CD and download, but sadly events intervened to stymie the reunion and planned wider and vinyl release, much to the disappointment of their fans. Here at last is the long-awaited 'difficult first album' from The March Violets!"

"In 1979, Johnny Thunders met up with his teenage hero Wayne Kramer of the MC5, and together they formed Gang War. Johnny had just released his So Alone LP; Wayne was not long out of jail after serving two years of a sentence of four for a coke bust. The band lasted almost a year but no records were released. These live recordings bear testimony to this unique partnership between two rock legends. They also demonstrate the difference between the two -- as Wayne Kramer has said: 'Music is important to me and I value the honor, the opportunity, to be an important musician. Johnny, on the other hand didn't consider himself a musician. He considered himself an entertainer.'"

"First time on vinyl. Limited transparent pale blue vinyl. A 'best of' collection of their series of eccentric post-punk singles and albums between 1979 and 1982. Described as 'entertaining idiosyncratic experimentalism' ('Who's Who of Indie and New Wave'), but they also have very evident pop sensibilities. Best known for their indie-chart hits such as 'Debbie Harry', 'Playing Golf With My Flesh Crawling' and 'Savoir Faire', today they sound like a forerunner of Stereolab. A group of musicians based around songwriter Alig Fodder, with vocals regularly contributed by French chanteuse Dominique Levillain, who met through mutual friends This Heat. This is an edited vinyl version of their 1998 'best of' CD, issued on Douglas Wolk's Dark Beloved Cloud label in the USA, with newly concise versions of some lengthier tracks. Since then they've regenerated and have issued new albums on various labels and also on Bandcamp. They've had their songs covered by a number of their many artist admirers, including Unrest (who turned Family Fodder's 'Debbie Harry' into 'Winona Ryder') and YACHT (who created internet waves with 'I Wanna F*** You Till I'm Dead')."

"The classic debut studio album by Broken Bones, the ex-Discharge speed-metal punk band, who influenced Metallica and an army of other hard-core punk bands. Broken Bones were formed in 1983 by the Discharge twin brothers of Bones (guitar) and Tezz (bass) and were joined by Baz (drums) and Nobby (vocals). From the 'Potteries' area, Stoke-On-Trent, they first produced two singles, Decapitated and Crucifix, followed by this album Dem Bones -- all fast and furious anthems and UK indie chart Top 10 entries. The album, originally released in 1984, was produced by Clay Records' Mike Stone who had also produced Discharge. Along the way, band membership developed, but always featuring the distinctive guitar of Bones. Tezz later went to the USA, where he played with UK Subs, Ministry, and many others. Both brothers are currently in a reformed Discharge."
