Lyra Pi from DeWalta is five synthesizer and score-like modern ambient works that mark the first release of a new series by Meander. The Meander Horizon Pi Series is a departure from the label's well known dance floor releases. Lyra Pi is also the second part of the complementary Lyra album project. The full album contains a double LP (Lyra (MEANDER 025LP, 2018)) as well as the present album. Combined with the separately available Lyra double LP, customers can create a three-LP box set. Lyra is a constellation in the northern hemisphere which is highest in the midnight sky in the early summer months. It contains one of the brightest stars in the sky: Vega. Many of the songs on this album were produced during these warm and gentle months during an inspirational creative time in Portugal. In Greek mythology, Lyra represents the Lyre of Orpheus, Apollo's son. Made by Hermes from a tortoise-shell, it was given to Apollo who then passed it along to Orpheus. It is said to be the first music instrument ever made. 180 gram vinyl, handmade see-through screen-printed PVC sleeve, plus insert card with artwork.

Lyra is DeWalta's fourth large solo project and third full-length solo album following Wander in 2012, llumination in 2014, and Dark Matter in 2017. The album consists of two individually available parts: a double LP (Lyra) with six tracks, as well as a single LP (Lyra Pi (MEANDER 026LP, 2018)) with five synth and ambient works. The ambient part launches a new Meander series, a departure from Meander's well-known dance floor releases. Lyra is by far DeWalta's most extensive and refined project to date. With 11 exclusive songs, a total running time of over 100 minutes (plus a collaboration with long-time friend and Meander co-owner Fabian Geimer-Lorusso aka Jupiter), it marks a new beginning of ambient and score-like modern electronic music works as well as the continuation of his inspired intellectual-emotional approach to dance music. 180-gram 12". Fresh, genre-bending interpretations of Konrad Black's "Scorched Earth." dBridge is a legend of UK dance music, active as part of the drum and bass group Bad Company in the late '90s, running his extensive label Exit Records, and regularly releasing on Boddika's Nonplus, Metalheadz, and R&S. Here, dBridge offers an up-to-date hybrid that straddles the line between techno and breakbeat. Romania's up-and-coming Barac has released on Raresh's Metereze imprint among others and launched his own Moment imprint in 2015. His extended mix of "Scorched Earth" is a deep, hypnotic journey through space.

Continuing its ongoing preoccupation with the vast universe, deep space, spirit and consciousness, Meander presents the Scorched Earth EP by Konrad Black, a selection of advanced 101 techno-infused break-beat science. Creating precision dance music, Black conjures the essence of the explosive meteorite, its afterglow, and its sonic resonance. The results are powerful, timeless sonic treatments for body and soul, pressed on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl. Together with fellow Canadian Mathew Jonson, Konrad Black founded the influential Wagon Repair label in 2005. This 12" precedes a record of remix interpretations by genre-defining artists from the underground electronic dance music scene.

Part Two comes with an inner sleeve and can be combined with Part One to build the full LP. Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell experienced the Zen-like experience of seeing earth from space to a state of mind also known as the overview effect, or Savikalpa Samadhi. Darkness is absence of light. Life and energy is light. Light is invisible until it surfaces. In the zero point sleeps all potential energy. Wonderful energetic dance music with well-integrated rhythmic and melodic structures. Cristi Cons is a Romanian musician who also runs his own Amphia imprint. This dancefloor-proven EP now becomes available, pressed into solid wax as Cristis debut on Meander. Lifelong studies in classical music as a cellist have sharpened his sensitivities for unique harmonies and a good ear for sounds. Besides working on his solo productions, he recently worked with Pedro Inspirescu for the TT Ensemble project, and created Sideways Invisibility Theory together with Vlad Caia plus a new co-operational jam called Verico with Raresh and Vlad.

From the funked-up and highly danceable heat of A1 to the spaced-out drum ornaments and "Rider-on-the-Storm"-esque keys of A2, the wriggly run of this record finally flows over into a deep, slow burner on the B-side -- atmospheric elegance. Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts' inimitable expertise for intuitive dance patterns made him a well-seen suspect on neat labels like Circus Company, Hartchef Discos, Karat, Oslo, Mutek, and Musique Risquée. Long in the making, this EP is the logical continuation of a long-time friendship between Guillaume and the Meander gang.

Frank Barns can be found in music, incarnated through restless rhythms, obscured samples, recordings from the field, and timeless interludes. Cinematic hands are extended, so as to reach maximum centrifugal force. In the artwork, you will find analog forms. Full-cover handmade silkscreen prints and nature's reflection surround the release, completing it.
