Seth Troxler continues to shed light on the frontiers of his musical interests with his Soft Touch label, presenting here nomadic trio AOU, who align their esoteric setup and a wide range of influences (including AIR and Joy Division) for Gordo Laika. Initially brought together via a love of skateboard culture, AOU combine the vocal aptitude of Guy Stevenson with the multi-instrumentalist flair and production knowledge of William Moreau and Quentin Sarda. With Futureboogie's Christophe bridging the gap between label and artist, an apt pairing is formed. Gordo Laika offers an enlivening insight into this auspicious musical collective.

Seth Troxler, primarily recognized for his bond with Detroit and its varying strands of house and techno, founded his Soft Touch imprint in 2014 to seek out left-of-center cuts touching on "interstellar guitar, calypso disco and seductive techno tracks." The label's second release comes from the trio Rework (Visionquest, Playhouse). "Girl or a Boy" kicks things off with a dense wall of ducking pads before Sascha Hedgehog's vocals prowl over moody chord shifts. The title-track emits a Miami-tinged glow atop a walking bass pattern and a melancholic synth refrain before "Moon" sets hazy guitar licks rotating inside an aquatic casing.

For most people, Seth Troxler is a name associated with Detroit-leaning house and techno. Yet this only scratches the surface of Troxler's musical outlook, hence the formation of Soft Touch; an imprint focused on peeling back the layers of the exotic and the strange, where interstellar guitar, calypso disco and seductive techno tracks can come together in unison and feel totally at home. On the labels first 10" release, Clarian collects three tracks; a kaleidoscopic journey through 6 am electronics, Afro-beat indie-pop and '60s West Coast heartbreak. It's a bold opening statement for a label prepared to break the mould.
