Phil Gerus is a natural musical talent who oozes sound from every pore. Fusing together cassette pop, disco, soul, r&b, and funk, his sounds are effortless but hugely emotive. Growing up in Moscow, Phil studied classical piano and was heavily influenced by his parents' music tastes, which included jazz records of Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, and Keith Jarrett -- it is these classy vibes that permeate his own creations. Phil has played around the world at leading clubs like Japan's Dommune, Studio 80 (Amsterdam), Mojo Club (Hamburg) and various hotspots in Europe and Russia.

Following the success of Freundchen EP (TREP 013EP, 2016), True Romance revisits the disco anthem with this hot hot hot trio of remixes. On the A side, Red Rack'Em puts "Freundchen" through his cut-and-paste wizardry, delivering a heavily filtered, bass heavy, hypnotic disco version. On the flip, Lauer cranks up the groove and unleashes the pianos for a classy house rendition that oozes sunshine and smiles. Russian producer Phil Gerus gets gritty on his take, bringing the track on a mad chopped-up Italo road.

For its 16th installment, True Romance welcome the über-talented Janis into its ranks. The busy Frankfurt based producer concocted an irresistible two-tracker oddball. On the A-side, "Machst Du Jetzt Musik?" is a gorgeous hypnotic groover. Flirting with jazz, the uplifting piano driven house track gets propelled through the clouds with its swirling bleeps and effects. On the flip, Janis plunges in darker territories with "Play, Stop, Pause". Glitchy synths and filtered pianos are wrapped into a trippy atmosphere reminiscent of the deep water disco of your wildest dreams.

Berlin's True Romance is back on the disco train for their fifteenth release. Label boss Tensnake is at the wheel this time with two irresistible tracks. First in line is the sci-fi infused "Machines", a catchy slow analog burner with deep synthetic bass lines, etheric melodies and floating French vocals - the perfect soundtrack to blissfully cruise the foggy, neon-drenched nights of a dystopian future. "Black As Flies" slings the listener back under the blazing sun. Starting with sultry vocals and a stripped down disco-not-disco vibe, the track morphs into a unique blend of Italo-Zouk madness.

True Romance unleashes one more disco stunner before 2016 ends. This time the fabulous three tracks 12" comes from the classically-trained, yet funky Phil Gerus. The Russian producer's Make Time EP confirms Gerus is here to stay. "She Is Wearing Her Black Boots Again" is a raw thumper with a thick post-disco bassline, robotic Italo synth, dreamy chopped-up vocals. "Make Time" is a groovy number with loopy funk guitars, soulful vocals and infectious keys. "Detective From Kamakura" is a gritty electronic funk track with banging percussions and delirious moans.

The story begins at the Heideglühen club in Berlin where the True Romance crew saw OJPB play. In the midst of his set he dropped a mysterious track that completely lit the crowd up, it was "E-Lane 2 Troy". Through the alias of OJPB, French-born Olivier Borzeix delivers raw and adventurous rhythms sourcing his inspirations in rare funk disco nuggets and the golden age of house music, blending it into what he likes to call: Hypnotic Soul. "E-Lane 2 Troy" is an uplifting cosmic mind bender, with brilliant disco loops and an infectious trance inducing melody.

Tensnake presents Desire on his own True Romance imprint. "Desire" is a slow and low 112bpm dancefloor burner, a dreamy groove with hazy vocals, airy guitar, and exotic synths. The flipside, "Fantasma," is a trippy acid disco number that flirts with Balearia and psychedelia.

The Walk/Keep on Talking Remixes features remixes of Tensnake's Keep on Talking/The Walk (TREP 007EP, 2015) by André Hommen and Gerd Janson. Hommen, the creative producer and label manager of Dennis Ferrer's Objektivity imprint, remixes "The Walk" with a deep, minimalistic beat and a smart breakdown that introduces the original's melody. Running Back cofounder Gerd Janson's "RAW Mix" of "Keep on Talking" features powerful drums and acid-tinged synths with a piano-led breakdown echoing the original melody. The vinyl-only "RAW Beats" version is a beats-only version of the "RAW Mix."

Canadian Vaughn Robert Squire, better known as Prison Garde, makes his True Romance debut with his Melody EP, about which he says, "It's gospel-influenced house stuff. It's in line with the last couple records that I put out, but I feel like it's a little more mature and that the quality of the recording is a lot higher than anything else I've done as Prison Garde. I recorded it at the Phi Centre in Montreal -- it's a beautiful cultural center in the Old Port. Ango and I locked ourselves in there and did a live record on an SSL in a big room."

German DJ and producer Marco Niemerski aka Tensnake follows two 2014 shows for BBC Radio 1's Residency alongside Gerd Janson, and a 2014 tour schedule that took him from Panorama Bar to A Club Called Rhonda, with "Keep on Talking," a tingling, infectious cut defined by an exuberant bassline and lush, wandering synths. "The Walk" takes a darker, more minimalist tone with slinky, staggered house beats. Building to a crescendo of strings amid a flurry of synths full of compacted energy, this is a record that sees Niemerski return to the sound of his iconic Coma Cat (PERMVAC 049EP, 2010).

Tensnake proudly presents the next tracks in a series of great tunes to come: True Romance 002 -- Larse featuring Charlie Sputnik: The Sun EP. Larse from Dortmund is well known for his very own approach to slamming deep house anthems. Several tunes out of his hands entered the national charts in Germany, Belgium, and South Africa. His "Vocal Mix" for Candi Staton's "Hallelujah Anyway" reached #1 on the Beatport Deep House charts and gold status in Belgium. Charlie Sputnik shows an outstanding performance as a singer. Charlie is from L.A. and has recorded with house music producers Art Bleek, Manuel Tur, Trevor Loveys, Affie Yusuf, Round Table Knights, Hervé, and Jesse Rose, to name a few. Together with Larse he shows one of his best performances so far. A fascinating blend of Prince, Wham, a very modern version of Kool & The Gang, and classic vocal house.
