Norwegian post punk duo Mayflower Madame return with their third studio album on Up In Her Room. Insight offers an expansive canvas of pulsating post-punk, shimmering shoegaze, and atmospheric psych-noir, masterfully blended with delicate sonic nuances. Mixed and mastered by Maurizio Baggio (known for his work with The Soft Moon, Boy Harsher, and The Vacant Lots), Insight showcases the band refining their sound into a sharper and more expansive sonic landscape than ever before. This album sees them exploring greater depths and heights, delivering a hypnotic journey through the shadows, filled with haunting melodies and dreamy melancholia. At the same time, it remains catchy and dynamic, with moments of vibrant brightness. Insight is dedicated to frontman Trond Fagernes' stillborn daughter and is bookended by two songs -- "Ocean of Bitterness" and "Insight for the Mourning Hours" -- that directly address this profound sorrow. Between these somber pieces, the album delves into a wide range of emotions, from nostalgic reflections on lost loves to feverish depictions of escapism and catharsis. Over the past years, Mayflower Madame have gained a reputation far beyond their hometown of Oslo, Norway. They made their debut with the album Observed in a Dream in 2016, which created a buzz in the indie music press and earned them tours across Europe and North America, while 2020s long-awaited sequel Prepared for a Nightmare firmly established their position as one of the continent's leading purveyors of cinematic shoegaze psychedelia swathed in 1980s post-punk and dark romanticism.

Limited-edition sky-blue vinyl. Includes download code. Up In Her Room present the latest offering from US psych heads White Shape, in conjunction with US label Little Cloud Records! Hailing from Rockford Illinois, White Shape are a reverb-soaked experimental heavy psychedelic rock band that are able to create sublime ethereal soundscapes. Previous releases include the widely renowned 2019's Perfect Dark where the band deliver a heady and physical ride of tidal proportions. Whether you want cerebral psychedelic, body moving rhythm, or hard-hitting riffs White Shape caters to your every need. The record is an anthem to their collective vision, spreading out to showcase the various talents and specialties of each band member. With the departure of two of the founding members through covid, Josh Weidman and Alyssa Hall set the sails once again to the wind and from the tumult of those incomparable times, they brought into existence their latest album, Through the Lupine. It is decidedly White Shape, with its brooding atmospheres, Hall's iconic vocals that float and expand until they fill every physical space, and the classic narrative architecture that invites you to enter the music and with it create your own inner worlds. You can hear these in every track, and particularly in "Draped Urns." But as it has been said, no one came through those times unscathed, untouched. Within the quintessential White Shape sound there is something else, something new. It can be heard in the previously released first single from the album "Knives Down"; a shift in the barometric pressure, a sea change both profound and subtle. It's a defiance, a refusal to go quietly into that good night, but with undercurrents of something else, something not yet found in the band's prior work. Is it optimism? Hope? Or simply the resignation to create for the sake of creating. The true value of Through the Lupine is that it provides the listener with the space to craft their own interpretation. For the White Shape fan, there is everything you love and want. There's just more, and it's different, evolved. For the initiate, there is the beginning. The introduction to the next understanding of what it means to experience music. Long live White Shape!

Presented on limited-edition black and clear vinyl. Includes download code. Up In Her Room present the latest offering from Uruguay's Las Cobras! Emerging from the Uruguayan city of Canelones in 2017, Las Cobras introduced themselves with their debut album, Temporal, a nine-track release that quickly became a reference point in global psychedelia after signing with London's Fuzz Club Records. A couple of years later, the duo -- Leandro Rebellato and Sofia Aguerre -- expanded to include Dario Macarín and Diego Mercadal, releasing their second album, Selva. In their debut, Las Cobras blended proto-punk and shoegaze with hints of afrobeat and Tropicalia. With Selva, the band amplified these elements, showcasing their evolving sound. Notably, their track "Al más Allá" is featured in the Amazon Prime series La Cabeza de Joaquín Murrieta. For their third album, Cárcavas, the band explores the concept of the cárcava -- a scar on the earth symbolizing a period of desolation. Teaming up with London label Up in her Room, they present a darker, more chaotic record that reflects the tumultuous years they've endured. Most tracks were mixed by James Aparicio (Depeche Mode, Spiritualized, Throw Down Bones Grinderman), lending the album a sharper, more defined sound. Las Cobras continue to delve into their sonic palette, incorporating electronic drums, Latin percussion, penetrating synthesizers, and fuzzed-out guitars, all from a more stripped-down perspective. "Black Butterfly," for example, is an espectrum of a lost friend. Like a ghost, always in orbit.

Available on limited-edition transparent purple vinyl. Up In Her Room present Alber Jupiter's incredible second album Puis vient la nuit. Founded in Rennes in 2017, instrumental bass-drums two-piece Alber Jupiter draw inspiration from Berlin's '70s krautrock scene and Godspeed You! Black Emperor's hallucinatory post-rock to craft a unique soundscape. Their motorik rhythm wanders between plaintive delays and intergalactic reverbs. Magic happens immediately! Following the release of their stunning debut album We Are All Floating In Space, the band took advantage of the forced COVID break to compose and record a second album which sees them pursuing their psychedelic exploration. A looper, a few pedals and the journey becomes limitless! The bass morphs into guitars, trippy violins, screams, ethereal or distorted layers. The synths are also part of the adventure, completing the already rich sonic spectrum and propelling the band into new territories.

Up In Her Room welcome the incredible Masal to the family! Masal is a collaboration between Al Johnson and Ozlem Simsek. Ozlem is a Turkish multi-instrumentalist whose middle eastern background is entwined with her western studies in classical music. Al performs psychedelic electronic music as Alien. As Masal they weave harp, Theremin and electronics into beautiful aural journeys. Having worked with legends such as Andy Bell and Mark Gardener of RIDE, and Sonic Cathedral, plus enjoyed radio play from the wonderful Simone Butler of Primal Scream on Soho Radio, and Mark Riley and Stuart Maconie on BBC 6 Music, UIHR are very excited for you to see what the pair have been cooking up. The Galloping Cat finds this unlikely pair of "neurodiverse nature lovers" collaborating on six meandering tracks of psychedelic grooves, electronic weirdness and motorik basslines mostly wordlessly exploring themes of self-discovery -- and it's stunning. Available on limited-edition pink vinyl, with only 250 copies pressed.

Available on super limited-edition pink vinyl with obi strip and download code. Only 300 copies pressed. London based shoegaze three-piece Holy Springs are Neil Atkinson Jr, Maria Bellucci, and Suzanne Sims. The band blend psychedelic influences with their love of lo-fi guitars and keyboards. In 2020 they self-released the cassette mini album Indoor Tapes. Shortly after the incredible EP Camera they present their debut full length E.A.T on limited-edition vinyl. Debut albums can sometimes feel a bit disparate as bands fling all the songs they've been working on together with no real thought as to how they all hang together as an album. Not so with E.A.T. The effort and thought that has gone into writing a cohesive and well-structured album is evident on every note played. If this is the band just starting out imagine what their next album will sound like, and the one after that.

Up In Her Room presents the first in the Ivan The Tolerable archive reissue series, Autodidact. Originally released on a 10" lathe cut by Ack Ack Ack Records in February 2018, this has now been remastered and repackaged, and will now be available on limited-edition khaki vinyl, with only 250 copies pressed. Here's a bit about the record in Oli Heffernan's aka Ivan The Tolerable own words: "I recorded the bulk of this record over a weekend in January 2018, in the midst of a very minor breakdown that was to last for pretty much the entire year. I was living in a big house all on my own, smoking too much and not really seeing any people. Happy days indeed. It was tracked in the back room of 97 Hambledon Road, Middlesbrough using two questionable microphones, a broken HH 100 amp, my friends' drums and a Tascam DP08 (that wasn't to see the year out, RIP 2009-2018). When I was done, Robbie came round and recorded a ton of violin drones through my amp and I remember feeling like I'd gone into a trance a few times, then Ben recorded his parts at home and sent them over. Mixed and mastered the same night -- I released it myself a month later as a lathe cut 10"and then promptly moved on. I listened to the album for the first time in years to write this sleeve note and I think it is possibly the closest I've ever got to capturing the sound I hear in my head -- I love how grubby and cavernous it sounds, claustrophobic and swirling -- the track 'Autodidact' I have recorded four more times since this version and I've never got that sound back. I'II keep trying."

Available on limited-edition white vinyl, only 300 pressed. Includes extended album download. Ivan The Tolerable is the alter ego solo project of Middlesbrough based musical wizard Oli Heffernan. Aside from his solo work as ITT, Oli has played in numerous bands over the years including Year Of Birds, King Champion Sounds with members of the Ex, Detective Instinct, and Shrug, and has collaborated with icons like Mike Watts of the Minutemen, and J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. On Black Water/Brown Earth, Heff called in the help of his Dutch friends Mees and Elsa in King Champion Sounds again and wrote the album in a long-distance session. The album feels like an excursion in nature, featuring bird song, flowing water, pots and pans percussion, and a genuine feel of wandering about and experiencing the outside world with eyes and ears wide open. It is a band effort too, with organic sounding drums, the characteristic saxophone, and droning synths.

Ponyland are a psychedelic punk, force of nature, a multi-limbed monster of scuzzed-out riffs and thunderous ritualistic grooves. Combining the grinding onslaught of Lightning Bolt, the ecstatic spectacle of Sun Ra and the irreverent spirit of System of a Down, this unhinged, masked menagerie have to be seen to be believed. Intoxicating rhythms meet hook driven waves of riffage, with ecstatic energy that will make your legs rattle uncontrollably. Following on from their debut album Mora Mora, this new full length LP Hare Brains sees Ponyland embrace a new edge to their visionary sound world. Keeping the trademark, pulverizing double drum kit engine and fuzz-drenched psychedelic soundscapes, the band have supercharged their songwriting with focused riff-based hooks and driving punk-edged vigor. Prominent female vocals channel Bikini Kill and Warpaint, whilst gritty, melted electronics flow around a classic thrashing guitar sound. Hare Brains is a celebration of dysfunction, a call to arms against human apathy, a psychotropic odyssey of eroded power structures, post-apocalyptic landscapes and mutant pigeons. The anarchic pagan ecology of Ponyland's vision grabs the listener and catapults them into a visceral NOW, full of defiant life, movement, and human connection.

Available on limited-edition eco mix vinyl, with only 250 copies pressed. Includes download. Up In Her Room presents the latest full length from London psych heads The Confederate Dead. In their own words: "As an artist, one of the most extraordinary gifts is the ability to convert life's experiences and emotions into music, transmuting pain into beauty, tragedy into art. With our latest album, Flamingo, we embarked on this creative journey. The inception of this project dates back to 2022, a year marked by a period of separation that was both challenging and transformative. Flamingo is not just an album; it is a voyage through the labyrinth of heartache and healing. Each track resonates with the overarching theme of the album, yet each presents a unique interpretation of it. Every song echoes the same meaning, the same core narrative, but from a different emotional lens." Each song flows differently, shifting the dreamy images into another direction. Thoughts of The Black Angels, the Fuzz Club catalogue and genres from shoegaze to garage pop and back to good old psych rock come to mind. In the end it appears that this struggle will never truly be decided. The Confederate Dead is their own beast, and a great one at that. Theirs is a sound that oozes confidence and grandeur, presented like a big name would. and there is no reason why The Confederate Dead would not dream big, they have the chops, the songs, the looks, the only thing standing in the way of moving up might be their dark brooding undertones and their refusal to do a cool thing twice.

Ivan The Tolerable started by accident in 2013 when Heffernan recorded a bunch of songs for his band at the time (Year Of Birds). These were a bit too left-field for a speedy garage band, so Oli decided to put them out on tape himself, and hasn't looked back since with releases on Up In Her Room, Stolen Body Records, and Library of the Occult to name just a few. Up In Her Room brings you the next entry from the Ivan The Tolerable archive reissue series, 2019's Wild Nature! Originally released on CD by Ack Ack Ack Records back in 2019, the album has now been remastered and repackaged, and appears on limited-edition orange wax. Here's a bit about the album in Oli's own words: "Wild Nature was originally recorded sporadically during the first half of 2019. It started life in one house, then I moved and it was finished in another. I remember screen-printing the original CD artwork on the sly at my old job during my lunch breaks and hand-assembled a small run of about 50 that are all long gone. I also remember walking around Albert Park early one morning in thick fog with a field recorder to capture the sounds that were then processed to form '23 Minutes Over Albert Park' (condensed to four mins for the reissue due to time constraints). I think this was also the last album I recorded vocals on and also the last one I recorded completely by myself -- all instruments, recording, mixing, mastering and artwork done by me at home."
