Etruria Beat founder Luca Agnelli unveils his long-awaited debut album, Source Drops -- presenting a ten-track journey through techno and beyond. With releases via a host of globally renowned labels, plus standout remixes including Moby's iconic "Porcelain", the Tuscany native's reputation has seen him become of the genre's leading artists when combining energetic, entrancing productions throughout his powerful DJ sets. His highly-anticipated debut album Source Drops is an in-depth musical story presenting growth, development, self-reflection and raw emotions via a collection of ten tracks ranging from powerful peak-time anthems through to EBM influenced cuts and slower, hypnotic productions. Agnelli: "This is the journey that traces my musical evolution of the last 20 years, discovering more conceptual, deeper musical territories; taking inspiration from what influenced me in my career as a DJ and from my continuous research without musical barriers. A journey always in equilibrium, at times dark and sharp, solar and fluid, that develops a different creative vision in each track trying to convey my most intimate and strongest emotions." Opening via the slow-blooming builds and atmospheric and waves of "Black Mirror", before diving into the heady and menacing tones of "Mutant Circle", the ten-track project quickly showcases a wide-reaching range of influences and nuances central to Agnelli's development as an artist over his career. Productions such as "Balance" and "Oxigen" contrast with one another whilst bringing space to proceedings, guided by breaks-influenced percussion, minimal arrangements and warping leads, whilst the driving "Resistance" harnesses classic techno tendencies to provide an energetic and lively, snaking journey through rich soundscapes. Title cut "Source Drops" brings that trademark Luca Agnelli energy to the heart of the project, merging scintillating melodies, acid-tinged stabs and icy hats to unveil a high-octane ride into the peak-time, whilst "Raw Surface" keeps the tempo high with sweeping leads, oscillating basslines and resonant lasers. Next, "Omega" spirals into an off- kilter ride through glitchy echoed vocals, crunchy percussion and rumbling low-ends, with the epic "Losing Control" welcoming an infectious lead melody at its core guided by punchy kicks and slick drum licks. To close, the package veers to an eerie yet ethereal close as hazy, celestial vocal chants meet panning sirens and swooping electronics -- punctuating an expansive and diverse offering from the Italian favorite and shaping up an impressive debut LP in the process.

A leading name within Italy's techno landscape and beyond, DJ, producer, and label owner Luca Agnelli's musical journey continues to surge with releases and remixes via the likes of Drumcode, Soma, and his own Etruria Beat imprint. Having played a series of stand-out shows to close the year including Universe82 festival (Valencia), Duel (Naples), Die Rakete (Nuremberg), and Steam (Athens), not to mention a breathtaking performance from the top of Torre Del Cassero in his home region of Tuscany, early 2020 sees a welcome return to home turf as the Etruria Beat boss steps out to reveal his latest EP Dangerous, comprised of four commanding productions. Title track "Dangerous" unveils a high-octane ride through escalating synths, resounding kicks, and menacing low- end tones, whilst "High Gravity" utilizes further infectious lead line work and slick, metallic drum licks. Next, "End Of Time" sees the introduction of soaring melodies alongside off-kilter sonics and tripped-out vocal snippets, before closing proceedings with "Acidulous", a driving acid-led effort that snakes through both tough and more melodic territories in impressive fashion.

Etruria Beat celebrates the 50th release on the label with a special pack of remixes of its first release, which was released back in 2010. After eight years there is new life to "7 O'Clock", the first track from Luca Agnelli on his own label. Four different artists give different shades of techno to this release. One of the fathers of techno, DJ Rush, the industrial-laced techno of Lithuanian Under Black Helmet, the warm, pumping sounds of Swedish artist Mikael Jonasson, and lastly Agnelli himself with his distinct, powerful style. No more words needed.

For Etruria Beat's 40th release, it's down to bossman Luca Agnelli. Following Metamorphosis (ETB 037EP, 2017), Luca lays down two slabs of absolute dynamite. "Voltumna" pays homage to the supreme god of Etruscan people: Powerful dynamics and balanced shades. "Aplu" is another dedication to Entruscan divinity: A barbed rolling dynamic that suddenly cracks open into a cosmos of light and emotion. Slam and Truncate each provide a remix of "Voltumna". Slam add their signature Glaswegian grit with distorted textures, while Truncate strips the groove back to a jacking dynamic that becomes progressively bouncier. Gold vinyl.

Etruria Beat label owner Luca Agnelli is back on his own label with two original cuts and two remixes by Abstract Division and Yotam Avni. Original tracks "Metamorphosis" and "Chaos" are very powerful techno tunes, filled with hypnotic looped chords, melodic synth stabs on solid beats, and drops. Dynamic Reflections owner Abstract Division revisited "Metamorphosis" in a very mental trippy way, adding a Dutch raw and dark touch to the title. With recent releases on Innervisions and Stroboscopic Artefact, Yotam Avni transforms "Metamorphosis" into a pumping groovy track that can destroy any dancefloor.

DESOLAT 042EP
|
Luca Agnelli returns to Desolat for the first time since his 2013 joint effort with Marco Faraone, Jambo (DESOLAT 022X-EP), with his first solo outing on the label. "Optical" is a clear-cut peak-time affair with warbling synths and climbing drum kicks that pull the listener with it on its winding journey. The title of "Bubbles" perfectly describes its feel, effortlessly combining a driving bassline and hypnotic synth to create a spine-tingling experience. The punchy bass, frantic pace, and melodic overtones of "Swiss Train" precede "Raw," an intricate, pulsating affair that pulses, bends, and creeps through the listener's mind.

Etruria Beat's 017 release sees its founder at the forefront, Luca Agnelli. Two original tracks, "Orion" and "Cassiopea," plus two remixes by Brett Johnson and Dachshund. "Orion" has an old-style flavor, characterized by a 909 groove and a bass line from an old 303; the main element is the Moog synth, that is addictive, melodic and hypnotic. Brett Johnson turns "Orion" into a much more deep track, playing with the main synth and making it suitable for afterhours. Dachshund has a tech-house touch, lending groove to the track. The last track is "Cassiopea," inspired by the sound of Ostgut Ton.

Booster is the debut 12" by Italian producer Luca Agnelli, who has an amazing talent for harmonies and writing music for and beyond the dancefloor. "Booster Remix" is a revised mix of the unreleased original "Booster." The track is epic and orchestral, with plenty of club sound. "Pianotron" is reduced and stripped down with an infectious walking bass line and all the qualities of a classic.
