Loco Dice has unveiled his darkly eclectic album, Love Letters, a 15-track embodiment of his diverse production range. Featuring "We're Alive", the most highly anticipated record of his recent sets. Dice's third studio album after 7 Dunham Place (DESOLAT 001CD, 2009) and Underground Sound Suicide (DESOLAT USS-BOX, 2016) sees him reflecting on his musical influences and connections to Düsseldorf and beyond. The album is packed with the producer's typically forceful tones, which blur the lines between house and techno. Utilizing the bristling sounds and smooth drum beats, Dice's Love Letters serves as an aural embodiment of the tones which make his sound so unique. Throughout, Dice uses his own vocals more frequently than on previous albums, which makes the production both trippier and more personal, representing past and present. Addressing his listeners via special sleeve inside the 3x12" vinyl album edition, Dice writes: "The music on Love Letters is filled with the positive energy and love that I have received around the world. Every piece on this album is like a mini letter. A Love Letter." With a trio of collaborations on the album, Dice drafts in Serious Klein on "Selflove", William Djoko on "Out Of Reach", and Eddie Fowlkes on "D Town Playaz". As someone who is deeply influenced by genres like soul and funk, Dice invited German-based artist Serious Klein -- who's work he has been following for the past while, to his Daddyscrib studio and a perfect blend was formed that was not only basted on their mutual African roots. When "Out Of Reach" began to take shape, it was clear for Dice that only the Amsterdam's finest -- William Djoko, could provide the final shape he envisaged on the release. The third feature on the album comes from Detroit godfather Eddie Fowlkes on the appropriately named "D Town Playaz", which features both of the artists' vocals and serves as a teaser for the things to come. Desolat label boss Loco Dice kicks off 2018 in fine style with a single that sees him reflect on his roots and his connection to Dusseldorf, Detroit, and beyond. The bristling "Roots" is a forceful track that blurs the lines between house and techno. It has twitchy synths bringing the energy to hurried drums as smooth chords add soul. The claps are coarse and edgy, whilst Dice's own dark vocals bring a brooding atmosphere and the whole thing is a synapse firing rave-up that cannot fail to detonate any dancefloor. An instrumental is also included for even more visceral thrills.

UK artist wAFF provides Hanzz Sup, a meaty four-tracker. The title track opens in fine style with hulking great big kicks reverberating down low as wonky tones and scattered percussion add more heat. The shuffling and bubbling "Karimba" is a skittish, busy affair with tribal drums and vocal chants all layered up into some sort of anthem. "Hypnotised" gets into your brain with tight, scurrying drum and percussive patterns that never let up. "Inception" takes on more of a house feel, with well-swung, low-slung drums bringing the groove as hammering hits and frosty synth lines keep busy up top.

Phantom Circle is the second album by Livio & Roby. Music is an art, a journey, a personal exploration. It doesn't start when someone presses play, nor does it stops when someone presses pause. However, with music being thrust upon everyone daily, it is nearly impossible to escape the preconceived notions of how to listen to and discover music. Everyone forgets to interrogate the melodies, to understand the harmonies, to feel the rhythm and connect with its soul. People learn to forget the value of it, simply going by what can be predicted of the musician rather than what we actually hear and feel in the sound. Cue Romanian duo Livio & Roby. Their conceptual album project Phantom Circle challenges the listener to defy the constraints of any preconceived notions. They invite the listener to focus on one thing and one thing only - the music. The audience is invited to listen to 11 original tracks, each of them co-produced with an anonymous collaborator from their "circle" of friends. And there certainly are some impressive names involved: Martin Buttrich, Guti, tINI, Hector, Andrea Oliva, Julian Perez, Cezar Merveille, Enzo Siragusa, Ryan Crosson and Premiesku. The classic Livio & Roby nuances will prevail, of course, but there will be no clear evidence about the "phantom" collaborator behind each track, apart from the music itself. By keeping the mystery on the identity of each co-producer, the duo is challenging their listeners to bypass the involuntary preconception and focus on the essential: listen and feel. Livio & Roby's emotive and mind-moving grooves have put them not only at the top of their homeland's list of nest producers but also at the forefront of the global electronic scene. The experience developed by the collaborators in this album only echoes the magnitude of Livio & Roby's talent, which boils down to their stamp of ambition and courage, consolidated in this project. Loco Dice remixes the seminal dance track "Go" by the legendary Moby, twice, and has made it all his own in the process. The first version is eight minutes of chunky and tribal drums, with rubber kicks, clipped horn stabs and big hits all building the pressure. Those most famous vocal cries really finish it off in style. The second version is more emotive, with big sweeping strings smeared in the background to help make it all the more dramatic, teary-eyed and impactful on the floor. Both remixes here pack a real punch, and whilst remaining true to the original.

Ibiza-based Francisco Allendes makes a welcome return to Desolat with his Aroa EP. "Agility Queen" is a raw bit of jacking house with clipped vocals from Dance Mania's DJ DMC and bulky drums; a sweaty, heavy house kicker. "Groundhog Day" is an off-kilter rave-influenced tune with militant snare patterns and blasts of frazzled bass frequencies that cannot fail to energize any floor. "Flea Allergy" is another anxious cut of coarse hi-hats, robotic and wordless vocals, and slamming dreams that works you into a frenzy. "Aroa Leon" gets even more unhinged, lumpy, and ghetto-fried with its sleazy drums and jittery perc.

Loco Dice presents Underground Sound Suicide. It follows up 2008's landmark 7 Dunham Place and proved once again that the Düsseldorf based artist is in a class of one. The Ultra Music released LP featured collaborations with artists like Just Blaze, Pulshar, Neneh Cherry, Miss Kittin, JAW, Chris Liebing and Giggs amongst others and showcased Dice's versatility with influences from techno to hip hop and beyond. Underpinning it all the album retained Loco Dice's chunky, bass driven feel and has made its way into many top DJ sets ever since. Now Desolat boss Loco Dice is releasing an exclusive boxset of the album on vinyl, including a host of new remixes and limited edition items. The reason this project is happening is because Desolat is a label that still prizes the physical format and inherent value of vinyl. As such, the whole thing, entitled the Underground Sound Suicide Box, is to be pressed to vinyl for a full physical release that will allow the exquisite sound design and rich detail to really shine. The fine original cuts are being pressed across four 12" records, and on top of that, four separate remix EPs will also be included featuring classy reworks of the material by established names from the worlds of house and techno including Nightmares On Wax, Henrik Schwarz, Kenny Dope Gonzalez, Kerri Chandler, Martin Buttrich, Robert Hood and Timo Maas among others. On top of this, there is a custom made diamond shape metal USB stick containing all the material and bonus tracks along with four music videos to "Get Comfy", "Keep it Low", "Party Angels" and "Sending This One Out". The set also ships with a custom designed slipmat. All in all this exclusive material is packed in a handmade box. This collection is a must own piece for wax lovers and fans of Loco Dice, but also for fans of contemporary, club owning house and techno. Romanian trio Premiesku (Livio, Roby, George G) follow releases on labels like 2020 Vision and Vakant with the Altitude EP. The title-track is seven minutes of irresistible electronic funk, with jostling drums and odd synth sounds. "Bucur" is a more peak-time-oriented techno cut with forceful kicks, alien sounds, and snatched vocal parts, fluid and free-flowing. "Neo" goes for a more minimal aesthetic with slick, rubbery drums and heavenly female vocals before spiritual melodies explode above the groove. The hypnotic "Permut" is a dubby roller with a fat bottom-end that's impossible to ignore and classic techno synths.

Loco Dice's Desolat label serves up a huge package from Russia's finest underground house and techno export, Tripmastaz. "Wax Mania" is a bulky techno roller with monstrous kicks, raved-up synth stabs, knocking percussion, and jazzy chords. "Taped Chrome," written and recorded in one session straight to tape, is an angst-ridden, edgy peak-time cut. The pinging rubber kicks of "Till Melted" sway beneath all sorts of withering and whirring synth lines -- a perfect freak-out tune. "F What You Heard" is a deeper house cut with a synth line that sucks you in as blocky drums stomp out a thick groove.

Loco Dice's influential Desolat label looks to Belgium-born Italian producer Bimas, who has been making music and DJing since the early 2000s, for four tracks inspired by old songs from late-night YouTube-listening-sessions. "Don't Break the System" is a high-impact techno-slammer with vocal-stabs and big drums. The funkier drums and warmer pads of the infectious "I Need" make for a playful and inviting vibe. The brilliant "Can't Stop" features a treated vocal altered by macho drums, with icy hi-hats and pinging kicks. "It Wasn't Me" plays with another big vocal-sample, drowning it in reverb and pinning it to vast rubber kicks.

"Take Away" was written in summer 2014 with vocalist Black Soda from South Africa. It's built on a hardware-synth-bed of pinging drums and coarse claps, but the heaviness lifts with the arrival of Black Soda's breezy spoken-word vocals and some colorful xylophone-like melodies. It's a proper underground anthem in the making, frankly. Loco Dice's version is chunky, with grainy sheet-metal claps, twisted vocals, and skewed synths. Pablo Bolivar flips the track into a more up-tempo, gliding house cut with starry melodic patterns, punchy drums, and filtered vox. It builds and builds to a peak and then implodes under emotive arps.

Estonian upstart Merimell joins Desolat with a four-track forward-thinking EP that pushes the boundaries of the house and techno genres with nods to moombahton and trap. "Cyber Seduction" is a futuristic staccato cut that itches and scratches; the rising synths create tension that segues nicely into lip-curling, head-nodding bass. "Drop It," an erratic yet pulsating affair, precedes "Back," which makes effective use of a distinctive topline underpinned by bass-led goodness, with repetitiveness cleverly offset by a full range of drum sequences. "His Rhythm" features nice chunky beats and sharp vocal samples. Check it. The kids are alright.

"Strike" slows down the tempo, adding exotic sounds and samples that create a brooding, tense house record. It witnesses a focus on both new and established artists that are fast becoming associated with the imprint. 2013 was another successful year for the Desolat camp. Its impressive release schedule included the likes of Jerome Sydenham, Mathias Kaden, Butch, Pulshar, Francisco Allendes, Tiger Stripes and label co-founder Martin Buttrich, alongside Mousse T. And Desolat 030 signals that the coming 12 months are going to be exciting as ever. First up are a couple of artists who are now firmly part of the Desolat set-up. Robert Dietz has established himself as one of the most exciting new talents on the house and techno circuit and his "You're So Hood" is a snapshot of his intricate and pumping style that has seen him become a favorite on dancefloors. The other Desolat regular is Hector, who brings a dark and brooding production in "Make a Move" that is sure to entice DJs and music aficionados from across the house and techno spectrum. Returning to the fold after previous releases on Desolat are a number of artists at different stages of their careers. Shlomi Aber continues to deliver the goods on Desolat with "Mind Tribus," following his Rough Steps EP and his track "Mancha" on 2013's sampler. House legend Eddie Fowlkes debuts on Desolat with an ethereal, bubbly cut in "I'm Telling You." The track delivers warmth and groove in equal amounts. Circus ringmaster Yousef has teamed up with Blakkat and delivered a polished, warbling anthem in "Analogue Times." Argy also debuts with "Closer Than Most" and NY legend Joeski also joins the party with a subtle and inviting track in "Beware of the Drum," while Anthea dives deep with "Booty Call." As ever, the sampler provides an all-encompassing demonstration of what Deoslat is about. On offer is a wide selection of styles that all represent what the respective artist is about musically, but of course, the consistent Desolat musical thread runs through all the productions. The 2x12" comes with an mp3 download code that gives access to four more tracks from Danny Ocean, Carlo Lio, Bimas, and Marco Faraone.

Shoxy and Alexandar Ivkovic are rightly regarded as two of Serbia's best-kept secrets. For years they have been amongst the finest DJs on the Serbian circuit. The Red Beans EP showcases the duo's considerable talents across four wickedly rhythmic house mutations. "Red Beans" is characterized by its clever arrangement and off-kilter beat. Seductive soaring synths, a chanting vocal and further deft sounds are added to the mix. "Tromotonik" develops around a more familiar 4/4 framework, with strong bass and hard-hitting percussion. "Seattle" is another tightly-produced energetic house track and "A Tale of Rhythm" feels like a ride on a rusty swing with a boombox on your shoulder.
