DCR 017EP

The 17th installment from Danse Club kicks off a much darker and harder side of the label -- with dark sleeves and muted colors, there is a clear difference in direction on Emerson Todd's Love Somebody. Danse Club has called upon Sascha Dive, Nathan Barato, and itself (Brodanse) for remix duties in order to take Todd's original piece in three dancefloor-led yet contrasting directions. Each remixer delivers get exactly what one would expect from such names, and the result is a package of stand-out Danse Club tools that will find its way into a number of record bags.

This is Emerson Todd's second release on Upon You. Emerson's specially-crafted sound is somewhere in-between jungle and metropolis, wild with details yet still beautifully melodic. "You Got To Know" proves that a piano can kick you and a lovely little digital topping can then combine everything into sweet dubness. As to be expected, the B-side is also alive with the artist's agility and perfectly-timed and placed whatnots to turn any dancefloor into an intense experience.

This is Emerson Todd's first release on Upon You. Born in New Zealand but living in Australia, his track "Eureka" goes back to the days of the Australian gold rush. But the other side of the coin isn't made of cheap tin, either. "Counter Point" keeps on digging, looking for buried acoustic treasure and "Vertigo" shimmers mystically. If you listen closely to "Eureka" and "Counter Point," you will find some great vocals by Mey.

Emerson Todd makes his Get Physical debut with 3 tracks of funk-laden and infectious house. With a previous release for the Dirtybird label and a coveted spot at the helm of a Resident Advisor podcast, Emerson Todd's profile is set to rise further still. "Dr. Jurd" pulsates with infectious tribal rhythms and cut-up vocal samples, before evolving into sleek, synth-driven tech-house. "Jacob" is a living, breathing dancefloor monster, and "Touche" touches on U.S.-style deep house, with an epic, atmospheric breakdown.
