PETS 112EP

The mighty Truncate crash lands on Catz n' Dogz' Pets Recordings imprint with two outstanding slabs of forthright techno tension. His first full single for the label, Truncate was last spotted aboard remixing KiNK way back in 2015. Now he's making up for lost time, thumping away relentlessly like two old mates who haven't caught up with each other in years. "Pressure" takes the lead. Bouncy, stripped-back, pounding and riddled with Ovum-level acidic funk, once you're locked into Truncate's loopy hypnosis, you may never escape. "Level Up" does exactly what its title suggests, too. Total rolling thunder with builds upon builds, there's a sense of momentum that elevates at every twist. And if that's not enough, Unknown 2 The Unknown bossman and fusionist king DJ Haus gets involved with some prime remix real estate. Buckle up friends, the pressure is only just beginning to rise...

LA's Truncate (David Flores) returns to James Ruskin's Blueprint with a new three-track EP, having made his outstanding debut on the label back in 2017 with Terminal 5. "The Bell/Initials/Timbre" comes off the back of continued deep and raw releases on his own self-titled Truncate label, his recent Truncei8ht EP for Eats Everything and Andre Campo's Ei8ht, which reached the Top 10 of Beatport's Techno 100 Chart. As a persistently in-demand DJ, Truncate has spent the summer touring the US, South America, Asia and Europe, with further gigs at renowned clubs like Glasgow's Sub Club, Belfast's Shine and London's fabric, amongst others. His new EP for Blueprint has been receiving early support from Ben Sims and of course label head, James Ruskin. Over its three tracks Truncate continues to shape his evolving Truncate sound that he launched in 2011, from the tribal energy of "The Bell", via the piquant twang of "Initials", to the deep sensibilities of "Timbre".

David Flores, formerly known as Audio Injection, started his Truncate project mostly for DJ tool purposes. You can hear it in the production: they're very DJ-friendly tracks and, as such, incredibly successful sure-shots for pretty much all the main techno DJs. The tracks on his Pressurize EP show a new side of the project tailored for 50 Weapons: still very functional, but less straightforward. Some bass music and broken-beat influences shine through, but always in true Truncate style.
