Ooh.... Is this even legit? Two killer remixes by Fango and Øyvind Morken respectively on this mysterious-but-not-so-mysterious 12" by an unknown artist. Categorize under house because this belongs in the basement.

MSK 006EP
Mysterious Berlin label MASK return with a pair of raw cuts entitled Marilyn. MASK preserve their esoteric philosophy of delivering well-crafted, modulated house and techno cuts produced on hardware equipment and Marilyn certainly follows suit. MASK releases are the result of anonymous artists live-jamming together in unison with the first five releases picking up support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Marcel Dettmann, Elena Colombi, Machine Woman, and many more. The A side is 13-minute voyage featuring fluttering, resonant drums, lo-fi synth stabs, and growling oscillations that become the focus in the track's latter stages while on the B side sweeping pads, spacey undertones, and squelchy, acid-soaked sci-fi elements keep the sonic experience obscure yet fascinating throughout.

SHIMMY 009EP
Shimmy Sham Sham returns with an urgent need to throw everything to the floor and make out with the music. There's a distinct sense that the unnamed vigilante behind this deviant dispatch of disco-fied diatribes likes nothing better than to burrow deep into the ground, unearthing every honey-coated bass lick and simmering drum hook you craved but were afraid to ask for. Leave it to the Shimmy Sham Sham and its occult-enhanced band of beatsmiths to guide you toward the most righteous kind of party, and you too shall be spiritually sanctified. Let those sweaty numbers melt down any worries.

STORY 008EP
A highly regarded producer and musician who used to be in the midst of the NY reactor that revived and modernized disco and Italo disco after the turn of the century, and whose releases under his own name appear much too rarely, delivers three sneaky chapters on Story. The A-side rides on a steamrolling percussive disco groove garnished with cut-up vocals and FX trickery. The B2 is a Chicago-style wedding of disco and house with a jubilant, string-backed female vocal snippet tweaked over a heavy groove; the B1 is a subterranean, groaning dub house affair that recalls a slowed-down John Ciafone banger.

In 1916, the notorious bandit El Guapo and his gang of thugs are terrorizing the population of Santo Poco, Mexico. Three silent film stars, mistaken for real heroes by the suffering people of the pueblo, are called to the rescue and must find a way to live up to their reputation. This is the story of an epic battle between good and evil... And off they rode into the sunset in the heat of the night, let those sweaty numbers melt down any worries. No top hat and gator shoes required... just shake that ass!

MR 7258EP
Repressed. A wonderful and enigmatic piece of '60s girl garage. This mysterious 45 features two acetate recordings associated with Detroit label Tuba, although none of them came to be released on it or any other label that Munster Records are aware of. No info about the artists, either -- all they know is that "Destroy That Boy" was recorded in New York and there are different versions of the song by The What Four and The Happy Cats. Munster knows even less about "Watch Out," just that it's another wallop of a track full of sassy threats.

STORY 007EP
After two years where the old Stories were still being carried around and re-told over and over by the world's disc jockeys, the next mysterious deep house raconteur finally adds a new tome to the old legend in his own distinctive, unmistakable style: while the narrative is effectively and assuredly driven on by a classical yet forceful 4/4 rhyme structure, the vocabulary is more playful, experimental and abstract with melodic fragments evoking pictures of vast, futuristic landscapes, and a mood of deep contemplation and enlightened serenity. Another satisfying page-turner.

SHIMMY 005EP
Shimmy Sham Sham delivers the fifth installment in its ongoing celebration of classic funk and disco. On one side you have a focused disco-burner that works some flamboyant chops of vocal over sharp guitar licks while keeping the groove simmering at all times. On the flip, a more loose, jazz-powered collage blossoms around a central double-bass hook, letting organic smatterings of percussion, laconic saxophone, emotive strings and all manner of other atmospherics unfurl into the mix at will.

Physical format will be on vinyl with black sleeves and no information whatsoever about the artists. Soniculture Confidential 001 was created by one of the most known artists of the current techno scene. A1 is dark acid -- strong and full of analog madness. STORY 006EP

DKR 040EP
"Lastly, a tune that needs little introduction, the mighty 'Rocks and Mountains,' produced by Sly & Robbie at 29 Maxfield Avenue. While never officially released, this tune was made famous through play on UK sound systems. And while the vocalists of this tune have long been rumored to be the Mighty Travellers, who self-produced some tunes and cut an LP for Jammy's, no one has been able to definitively confirm this. This recording has been sourced straight from a mastertape containing dubplate mixes of other released and better known Sly & Robbie productions from the early 1980s, but which bore no notation of 'Rocks and Mountains' presence at all. So decades later, the mystery endures, but the music finally comes into the light and speaks for itself. One thing is certain though, the mighty sound of Channel 1 still rules in 2011!"

STORY 005EP
Another anonymous high priest of the Secret New House World Order presents three deep tracks in the best Chicago tradition. "Feel About" exposes a basic jacking beat somewhere around the magical 120bpm range, an almost sedative walking bass line, swinging organ chords and vocal snippets that command your butt to shake. "Gruteaussichten" packs a harder punching groove and a slightly eerie atmosphere before a warm shower of synth chords hits the euphoria switch in your subconscious. Resistance is futile.

HOTEL 002EP
After Hotel 1 hit the house-hospitality industry by storm, part 2 picks up with 2 tracks based on a special "make it up then break it down" formula. While the drums form the backbone for both A and B sides, the musical elements are refreshed with each track, allowing us 2 special cuts based on the same groove. "Room 201" is a slow-building, acidic workout while "Room 202" is a slightly more stripped jam for a darker, more deviant journey.

STORY 004EP
Another main player of the current elite of deep house producers makes an anonymous appearance on the Story imprint. Right from the beginning of "Fascinated," we get slowly woven into a maze by the spellbinding introduction of a sultry soulstress. "Taj Mahal" has a more robust, earthy beat with tabla and twangy sitar sounds panning around, making you see all these groovy colors. "You Better Find A Job" features warm, pulsating bass, psychedelic feedback and far-out flangers.
