British producer Marco Bernardi provides plenty of synth action on Eating Shells. The opener, "Preminitions Of A Solar Blank", is a rich composition with a melody-heavy approach which does not cripple it's dancefloor momentum. "Invisible Breaths" is slightly deeper than the opener, with a subtle emotion buried between the layers of synth lines that organically unravel throughout the track. "Static Winds" is perhaps the closest to Marco's earlier Barba Records output - a bit squeaky, a bit messy and properly mental. "Walking With Slippers" is a very direct, with a straightforward beat and a heavy synth line.

California based producer Damon Bell presents Stand By Me Croatian label Burek. Two words that perfectly describe this record are rich and colorful. "Stand By Me" is a synth-heavy piece built around the interplay between track's rougher sounds and big lush pads. "Life" is slightly faster and more direct, with a wonderful guitar part that circles around the main theme throughout the most of the track. Slightly more intense is "Trans Atlantic Journey? We Been Here!". It features an infectious groove with lead synth piercing through layers of delicate arpeggios playing in the background.

Leading Croatian artist Ilija Rudman's Higher Ground EP features "Higher Ground," a solo effort, and two tracks coproduced with American producer Boyd H. Jarvis, whose credits include numerous 12"s on such classic labels as Trax Records, King Street Sounds, Movin' Records, and Dance Tracks (to mention a select few). Although releases made in a similar fashion tend to sound somewhat unfocused, the result here is exactly the opposite -- 20 minutes of some of the slickest house music out there, sounding so coherent that dissecting it track by track seems pointless. Equally at home in the club and the convertible.

Luca Murgia has a sound all his own; he really like tom-toms and spacey flourishes, and everything lines up in his grooves so the body can flow freely. "Assembly" has a jerky tom rhythm and a spritely bassline that injects energy without disturbing the flow. "Future Window" has those toms again, but in the background, with insistent keys and a bassline that pulses rather than bounces. "Tasks" takes the template from the other tracks and gets it so drunk it almost falls apart, with a wildly twisting bassline. At the right moment it's a gnarly ride that'll drive people crazy.

Aybee's debut for Burek holds true to his unpredictable nature and his reputation for always showcasing different sonic tapestries. Aybee's moniker for this release, The Bazile Republic, signals the story of a strange island, a celestial visitor, and mysterious doctor. The story is set to be played out over several releases, and sees its first installment via Burek. The tracks, titled "Strange Visitors," "Motion of Attraction," and "The Sacred Smoke," form a fusion of dancefloor rhythms that drive and lift. As usual, Aybee engages the listener via the head, heart, and feet.

Esa makes a welcome return to the Burek family fold with another EP that skirts the boundaries of the dancefloor. Laying Bennett's vocals atop deconstructed, radiating cosmic transmissions on "Time of Planck," Esa cautiously adds reverberating oscillators to maximum effect over a washed-out, hazy groove and key stabs. "Paradox Jaz (Recover)" follows a traditional Detroit journey before gradually stepping up-tempo for a cantering, melody-led approach. "Placid Universe" features atmospheric undertones before clicking snares and bulbous, low-end bass lines and acid squelches force their way into earshot. "Drama Queen" flits between light xylophone riffs and seething, pulsing bass stabs, offering a resonating close to Esa's all-original, analog productions.

Antipodean beatsmith and low-riding soul-brother, Inkswel, arrives on the eighth 12" from Burek Records. He recently collaborated with Dave Aju, naturally Burek were keen to get this out into the world, complemented by great remixes and additional tracks from Inkswel. The A-side comprises three funkadelicious, shape-throwing, pop-locking slices featuring the talents of Aju, Cazeaux O.S.L.O, Isaac Aesili and Charli James. "Oishi Stylus" is also included, evoking the Pacific Rim's interconnectivity with its Nipponese flavors cut over solid beats. This ain't hip-house, it's hip-hop-house. The B-side features heavyweight remixers such as DJ Nature Iron Curtis, and IG Culture.

Russian producer Denis Korsunskiy aka Information Ghetto explains his latest EP: "'Inspiration' is one of my favorite works so far. It's a unique composition which I envisioned and later managed to accurately replicate in the world of sound waves. I create my music in constant dialogue with my instruments and often they show me the limit of my creative processes, but with 'Inspiration' it turned out to be totally the opposite with me pushing my equipment to new levels and I believe I managed to consciously integrate into it the energy of when I was first introduced to electronic music. For me, those far-away days in the '90s were the period I remember fondly and love so much." Remixes from Chicago's masters of the deep, Specter, and techno pioneer Aubrey.

Drummer, producer and DJ, Esa Williams aka Mervin Granger has been a resident at Glasgow's Sub Club for over half a decade. He runs his own label, Rememory, and also partners Brian D'Souza in the live presentation of Auntie Flo. This 12" captures his emotions upon returning to his native South Africa and the trials of becoming acquainted with his new home of Glasgow. Also includes a remix from Edinburgh's Fudge Fingas, which encapsulates both of the original tracks and adds FF's own distinctive slant.

Snuff Crew evoke the gritty origins of house music for the denizens of the digital era via their own productions and through their label, Snuff Trax. For its fifth offering, Croatia's Burek label is proud to present the first-ever solo EP by Snuffo, one-half of the Snuff Crew duo and the A&R mind behind Snuff Trax. The two slices of stripped-down, dusty old school Chicago house are almost bipolar in nature. Includes remixes from Juju & Jordash and Kikumoto Allstars.

Toby Tobias finally releases his debut on Burek. Toby brings his unique view on house music with two tracks: "Running Away" and "Tres Mal." "Running Away" is a classic house peak-time tune with a '90s bass line, wonderful melodic synth-stabs and a vocal sample which at its peak simply drives people crazy on the dancefloor. "Tres Mal" is cleverly arranged, with a fat bass line and high quality production. Remixes by Homebody and Be Atwell.

Sergej and Pytzek from Croatia's well-known club Sirup have started a label called Burek. The first release is from Strahil Velchev aka KiNK. Leko/Yako finds KiNK trying to step away from common club-oriented production and present himself in a totally different light. "Yako," especially, is a dance mutant somewhere between speed garage, house, rave and dubstep that rips the dancefloor apart. Includes a remix by Pytzek & Homeboy and a dub version by Duckbeats.
