"This is the real sound! Straight from the dirty South of France. Given here and modeled by up-class-rated band Hair & The Iotas in their own Watthaus Studio, down their home city of Perpignan. This is songs and beat -- no inaudible sound magma for some I'm-in-search-of-a-rock-n-roll-identity fundamentalist sec, no vain retro posture, no technical demonstration. Hair & The Iotas are absolute, not extreme." --Paul-Marc De Luigi, Les Maîtres du Son Magazine.

A Belfast escapee finds himself in France at the start of the 21st century. Recruiting three French musicians with the same idea, nothing else for it than to depart on quest to find something real. The Vampyrs play up-tempo rock n' roll with a penchant for '60s psych and freakbeat. Already an LP under their belts, they're celebrating the release of their first 7" on Cougouyou Music. Linked to their record store of the same name in Perpignan in the deep South of France, Cougouyou Music has a focus on the local scene in Northern and Southern Catalonia.

In 2014, the Cologne/Perpignan duo Klangwart traveled to Bogotà for a recording session with prolific Colombian group Meridian Brothers. "Monserrate" is the first track from those sessions to be released -- a collective composition by Markus Detmer and Timo Reuber, with Juanita Añez Rothmann, Valentina Añez Rothmann, Eblis Álvarez, Damián Ponce, and César Quevedo. Features a fine remix by Perpignan's dub master Le K, aka Sylvain Garcia. Klangwert's Markus Detmer and Timo Reuber are the two "elder statesmen" of neo-krautrock, regarded as the most authentic heirs to the psychedelic sound gurus of the '70s.

Cougouyou Music present a limited 7" single Brigitte Fontaine's masterpiece "Lettre À Monsieur Le Chef De Gare De La Tour De Carol", originally released on her legendary album Comme À La Radio in 1969. Fontaine is not an artist from Perpignan/Catalonia, but this beautiful track about the station master of the train station Latour-de-Carol, 1200 meters high in the Pyrenees, is emblematic for this region in the South of France. Nothing is known about concrete music composer monsieuRdurand. Based in Perpignan, Durand presents two compositions and two surprises based on field recordings and found sounds.

Two brand new and exclusive tracks by The Limiñanas. Getting their start in October of 2009, The Limiñanas are the brainchild of Lio and Marie Limiñana. Beginning as a home studio project the duo spent much time flipping through John Barry and Ennio Morricone LPs and books on Victorian era architecture, watching Noir films, and basking in the sun of Southern France seeking inspiration. It's been noted that there are traces of Serge Gainsbourg, Beck, Stereolab, gospel, guitar fuzz freak-outs, and Nuggets-era stompers in the Limiñanas music. All of which may be true, but Limiñanas's sound is irreverent and singular.

Pascal Comelade's Wings On Rocks EP includes three tracks: an extract of the soundtrack for Bob Wilson's ballet Wings On Rocks (1999) featuring Richard Pinhas on guitar, a previously unreleased track from 2009 and a new version of "The Nothing Twist", recorded with The Liminanas, featuring Xarim Aresté on guitar. French-Catalan musician Pascal Comelade, born in 1955, began making strange cover songs of rock and easy listening standards with such instruments as singing saw, toy piano etc. He later developed an un-confoundable style, co-operated with artists like Robert Wyatt or Faust, and even counts with the Japanese band, the Pascals.
