"We went back to an older method of writing for this one. We jammed and jammed and jammed. I took the tapes home and ironed out some mutant tunes. We went back into the studio and burned them to tape live and then I took it home to Stu-Stu-Studio and did the vocals and bought in Tom Dolas and Brigid Dawson to put the finish on. Spice is always nice. Mixed it all up in the cauldron and thus we have a strange brew indeed. Floating in the smoke we have: A couple long jams, a couple short jams and a finale that'll dump a bucket of ear worms on you (reminiscent of 'the axis'). Dip your toe in organ rock and roll. So without further ado we present to you Off Course. An album wondering where the fuck are we and how did we get here. A signal dispatched out into the darkness. We are here. We are alive. And we are together."

"I wanted to make a totally fried recording, quick and dirty. Sort of a cathartic expulsion. Clean the cobwebs. I recently bought a Vestax MR44 (the best sounding 4-track ever IMHO) -- the same 4-track I recorded some Coachwhips, early OCS etc. on. Now we had the tools we needed so I spent a week writing riffs and brought them to Tom Dolas and John Hodge. We ran them one time and then recorded them on the second go. Loosely improvised and unhinged. Everything turned all the way up. Hope you dig -- play loud." --John Dwyer

LP version. "Forty or so Damaged Bug tunes from the past seven years were orphaned/unfinished, which is pretty rare for me. I just kept having other things going on and life kept getting in the way. And frankly, the songs were all over the place so I didn't see a thread in there, but in light of current events in the world, I feel like it's every artist's calling to construct personal messages cloaked in a moments of escapism. That's what this record is for me -- was something to clear the decks a little bit in my studio and relax my mind and keep the wolf from the door. It's a bit of a joyous/sad record dealing with hope and forgiveness, two things which I hope end up more in my life. It's abstract and poppy, fried and sugary. It exactly how I feel at the moment fried and skewed. Good luck out there and I hope this turns off the torrent for you, for a moment." --John Dwyer

Double LP version. "Here is a recording of the Broad Museum show. A bunch of Krauty jams we've never played live before and a couple old favs. Mixed by JPD. Mastered by the guru JJ Golden. Here is a slab to burn one to while you jettison any garbage (good riddance) out the hatch -- onward and upward."
