Mental Bend captures the magic of the moment when sundown leads to the adventures of night in their dreamy soundtracks. If you close your eyes, you can see blurry pictures passing in slow motion, accompanied by their atmospheric songs. One Step is the Berlin-based indietronica duo's visually vivid debut album, released on Fenou. Sissip (vocals, synth, bass) and Hendrik Havekost (beats, production) know how to trust their instincts, crafting their hypnotic signature sound, somewhere in between electronica, ambient, and dream pop. Before founding the band in 2013, the two were already shaping their skills in all kinds of different formations and styles of music. As soon as they got together, they had a viral mini hit with their song "Take My Hand". The band's first long-player One Step is all about important experiences and decisions, small as well as big steps, all a part of making progress. In the past year while touring in Tokyo, Sissip and Havekost met Dapayk & Padberg, alias of Eva Padberg and Mo's Ferry co-founder Niklas Worgt, who were immediately impacted by Mental Bend's individual sound. Inspired by artists like Portishead, Tricky, Massive Attack, Radiohead, and The XX, Mental Bend invent their very own soundscapes. Spheric loops, trippy downtempo beats, and indulging chords make for massive walls of sound, interweaved by fragile and melancholic vocals from another world. Sometimes creepy and dark, sometimes ethereal and surreal. It all results into an almost impossible to grasp mix of organic and electronic elements, mirrored by the band's name; Mental Bend aren't shy of making sudden turns in their tracks, bending their ideas into unpredictable creative sculptures and walk on unexpected paths, always challenging their listeners to really listen. One Step is their creation of a world of sound for the imaginary citizens of Metropolis. A sound matured and perfected on two tours through Germany, as well as at shows at the Berlin Berghain-Kantine, the C/O Pop Festival and the renowned Jetztmusik Festival in Mannheim. The influence on One Step doesn't stop in Berlin and Tokyo. The foundation is actually laid in New York City, where the duo wrote the title track in 2015. This inspirational atmosphere of the title track comes up elsewhere, like the restless "Walking", the claustrophobic "Invisible", the hypnotic love song "Madly In Love", or the contemplative pop song "Counting Stars".

LP version. 180 gram vinyl. Includes download code. For nearly three decades sought-after musician, producer and machine enthusiast Niklas Worgt has researched diverse club sound effects with countless projects, while singer Eva Padberg is an internationally renowned high fashion model. Since 2003, they have been traveling and performing together as Dapayk & Padberg. Each of their albums is a sound logbook, which captures memories in the form of beats, tunes and skits. On Sink This Ship (MFP 081EP, 2016), the Berlin-based duo provided a first glimpse of what you can expect from Dapayk & Padberg in 2017, with their new album Harbour. This time, from the foggy depths of Scotland, their journey brought them to the sea, where Dapayk & Padberg anchored and found their temporary port - a place to take a deep breath and slow down, re-energize and let the energy flow freely. Allowing "the self-assurance to try everything in all directions" Eva Padberg says of album number five. Two very distinct places have had a special influence on the genesis of Harbour: The first ideas were collected in 2015 in Camargue in Provence, amongst panoramic views of fragrant lavender fields and extensive vineyards. After half of the tracks had already been recorded, both computers with all nearly finished song material were stolen - a crucial break for Dapayk & Padberg. Both started a second attempt in the spring of 2016 - this time recording in the rural seclusion of Brandenburg just outside of Berlin. Programmed loops combine with Eva's associative, metaphoric lyrics to form gentle, flowing, and sometimes stormy interplay. "Harbour", the title track, with its choked downbeats and the over-dreamy vocals, reveals the stylistic direction of the whole album. Almost seamlessly it fades into the softly pumping love declaration "Watching Over You", followed by the playful "U-Camargue". The melancholic "Sink This Ship" has an asynchronous rhythm that is softened by touching classical strings in the end. The slightly jazzy "Just Be Found" was influenced by trip-hop mixed with noisy radio samples and fragile vocals. Dapayk & Padberg's very own interpretation of late-night pop can be heard on "Nightshades". In addition to the regular tracks you will find selected skits, short instrumental scores that connect the individual songs atmospherically. The album ends on a conciliatory orchestral note with the '90s hip-hop and ambient-triggered instrumental "The Field".

Limited hand-numbered 10". From Karaoke to Stardom presents Bone Silence, preceding his second album, Little Voodoo Dolls. This single offers insight into Jeremy Herpe's mix of analog synth sounds and drum machines with organic, natural sounds like rain or speech samples -- a blend that makes space for unexpected turns and breaks. Named after a Parisian metro station, "Rue des Bullets" is full of retro-futuristic sounds, while the unreal "Bone Silence" shows his experimental, uneasy-listening side.

Since the mid-2000s, London-based guitarist Sebastian Russell has been dedicated to electronic music and with a creative passion audible in every track he releases. Here, "Free Fall" makes you want to jump to its prancing, easy beat. The catchiness of the tune will etch itself into your memory. The graceful "Hide" follows with its warm, powerful, rich sound. The B-side belongs to "Force," a refreshingly glistening track of sophisticated sound-finesse that is also the record's most danceable tune. As usual this release comes as a 10" vinyl in a limited hand-numbered edition.

Douglas Greed's 2014 Fenou Bouquet Vol 3 Mix, available only online, was highlighted by his track "To the Moon and Back," which Fenou now presents on vinyl for the first time. The B-side comes from label head Dapayk Solo; in contrast to the more ambient sounds on the A-side, "Mr. Styles" seems to push the boundaries of the label sound a little more toward the dancefloor. As usual this release comes as a 10" vinyl in a limited hand-numbered edition.

On the A-side of their Lovecream EP, Schlepp Geist & Benotmane give a very seductive proposition and at the same time create an irresistible mantra: "My head is burning, you make my machine clean, my love cream is waiting, so let's become a dream team." If this does not convince you to move your feet, the B-side will. "Stuck in My Head" is to be taken literally. Simon Jinadu's fascinating and soulful vocal performance burns itself into your mind. This 10" vinyl release comes in a limited edition and is numbered by hand.

Fenou presents a split EP by Dapayk Solo and Interelektrika. The A-side cut is filled with "Strings and Boxers" by Dapayk Solo, built on a gentle but quite hypnotic analog beat with epic strings and harp sounds next to stylistically confident electronic instruments. The B-side "Tage Wie Dieser" by Interelektrika is the soundtrack for a festival of the same name. The summery mood and all the memories are compressed in a 10-minute deep house masterpiece. As usual, the 10" vinyl release is again a limited edition and numbered by hand.

On this two-tracker the Swiss guy Benotmane skillfully combines groovy bass lines, melodic synths and carefully-adjusted vocal parts. "Somewhere" is one of these tracks that carry you out into the morning sun. Later on when you listen again, a melody snippet triggers memories of a perfect moment. The B-side is certainly no less exciting, although the mood of "Submarine" is more quiet, almost dreamier. Eyes closed, you'll get wrapped up in the sounds just to slowly drift away. As usual, the 10″ vinyl release is again a hand-numbered limited edition.

Mooryc's "Simply" was the opening track of the Fenou Bouquet Vol. 2 mix compilation in 2012. His track is lovingly arranged and embedded in a harmonious sound collage and the underlaid beats try to permeate everyone with their massive drums. Dapayk conjures from the dreamy original a floor-compatible remix. Said and done, he does it with his relaxed manner and without sacrificing the essential elements. As usual, the 10" vinyl release is a limited, numbered edition.

Fenou #17 is the first collaboration by Powel and Lake People aka Lake Powel. This wonderful symbiosis created two really charming tracks. With its melodious feel of a late summer atmosphere, these tracks exude charm to unwind and relax, just right for this time of year. As usual, Fenou presents this material in a 10" limited edition and it is individually numbered by hand.

Radioblue's Take Me Home on Fenou is the sweetest piece of minimal-ish housey electronica in a long time on this label. As a mere mortal, you cannot resist the dreamy voice of Sylwia van der Wonderland. The music itself makes it impossible to leave the dancefloor... and that's thanks to Robert, The Rocket Scientist, who is the other half of this organic duo. With remixes by Umami, Arjuna Schiks and Le Prix, you can choose from various styles.

The topic of Salomé fits the two producers Kadebostan & Laolu from Switzerland perfectly. The melodies sway back and forth -- dreamy and full of peace. The rhythm group plays along and even though the vocal phrases retain their own character, they blend into the musical structure as if they were made for these tracks. The A and the B sides show a masterly, crafted arrangement. As usual, the lovingly-designed 10" record is a limited edition and numbered by hand.

In late 2010, the Berlin-based label Fenou celebrated its 5th anniversary -- reason enough to release the first label compilation collecting six favorite tracks from the back-catalog and six brand-new tunes. With Camara & Bustler's "When The Night Falls" and Hidenobu Ito's "Come," two of the previously-unreleased tracks were cut on 10" vinyl -- as usual, it's a limited edition and numbered by hand.

Dixie Yure is contemporary old school house from Seville. With Show Me Satisfaction, Dixie Yure builds a homogeneous and pleasant mixture with classic house elements and vocals. Thanks to the funky improvisations extending over the whole track, you won't get bored even after listening to "Show Me" for the hundredth time -- good for the club AND the couch. "Satisfaction" is a little more reduced than "Show Me," but is enhanced with jazz elements such as pianos and saxophones.

Marbert Rocel is a band and you can hear it. Their live performances are more than your regular electronic act. On Compost, where the first Marbert Rocel album was released, they already revealed their feeling for emotional house ballads and jazzy sounds; on Fenou, they follow this path with a more experimental kind of art. Marbert Rocel's cozy sound is perfect for sunny hours or those hours before. Includes a remix of Hundreds' "Fighter."

Kadebostan opens up an exotic sound bazaar on Fenou with The Souk EP. On side A, he charms us with a clarinet, like a snake-charmer decoys the hissing reptiles from a basket. Your hips will sway softly and smoothly under this hypnosis, against a beating rhythm and repetitive bass line. On the flip, he lifts the veil on a world of foreign, magical music -- a miraculous mixture of charming vocals, gentle rhythms, unique guitar and piano scales.

"In a fresh, light and nippy way, Mr. Russell drums us out of the Indian summer into the Oriental autumn. Pipes of Pan prance above this cool Arab beat and take a rocking guitar line in between. And because Germany becomes extremely cold these days, Fenou #9 heats up more pressing than its predecessors and warms us on top with a vocal taken from The Arabian Nights that crackles in our ears. The flip side shows more deepness and blows over a warm breeze of Spanish dance air on the guitar. Vocals whisper longingly above the drums, engrossed in thought far away at the seaside. With this record autumnal coldness is long forgotten and expelled."

"Dapayk's 'frickel' beats contrast with the soft e-piano phrases and above all this, there is Midnight's yearning and demanding vocal, as if we would eavesdrop on her dreaming. 'Open The Door' is more than a suitable follow-up to their debut single Emergency. On the B-side, Fenou welcomes Ezekiel Honig, electro-acoustic artist from New York. Over the past years, he has released on his own imprints Microcosm and Anticipate, but also on Unfoundsound and others. He has always found or built up platforms that represent and spread his special, very picturesque sound in a good way. Now, it is time for Fenou to line up in this fine selection of labels. Ezekiel Honig's music is experimental but melodic, warm and sensitive. 'Seaside Pastures Part 1' is sophisticated electronica arranged with love and affection, not only for home-listening fans. Again, this record is presented as a limited edition of 10" vinyl with full-cover artwork -- serially numbered, as always."

"Cute is back! Mo's Ferry's sublabel Fenou returns after a one year break with a new limited 10" vinyl edition. The first releases realize collectors' prices and show a path to a universe of experimental, minimal pop. Dapayk's 'Dehalledretro' is probably known as part of his live set. The calm and reduced, but groovy track emerged from a bunch of loops he's playing with during his performances. It's a proof that shows: minimal is not always made of clean, sterile sounds and dry wood-like tones. Dredl Kibosh's flipside 'I Found You' is spinning around broken beats and intelligent grooves, beyond the klikkaklakka standards. It's a link between four-to-the-floor and downtempo-breakbeat... very soulful."
