After contributing with a remix in 2018, Made Of Concrete invite Johannes Volk for a full-length artist release. A scene veteran, Volk is known for his releases on Jeff Mills' Axis Records, Patrice Scott's Sistrum, or Steffi's Dolly imprint or for his live appearances in staple clubs Berghain, Tresor, Panorama Bar, Golden Pudel, or Corsica Studios to name a few. Opener "Soldered Minds" introduces a dense, energy-filled dynamic that's both impactful and intriguing. Label chiefs Rebar give the track a "Hum" remix treatment, adding layers of sizzle and flow that transform it into an afterhours-ready alternative. Undulating basslines stand the base of "Magma In Slo-mo", a track that offers a solid anchor and great tool for the dancefloor. The haunting, glitch-laden "Asphalt Flowers" brings unpredictability with its jittery, uneasy atmosphere that, if played at the right time, is the perfect trigger for a descent into dance delirium.

Markus Suckut is a well-known producer in the techno world, whose releases have found a home on such respected labels as Rekids, Odd Even, Hypercolour, or Edit Select, to name just a few. Suckut is also the founder of the SCKT imprint. The Düsseldorf producer has been a part of the Made Of Concrete family for some time now and the pair up between the two on Voices In My Head feels like an ideal match. The title track "Voices In My Head" may give off a tranquil feel but pay close attention and you'll hear the psychosis bubbling below the surface. The synth scribbles that underpin the track would get the best of a sane mind in the right setting. "8" follows. It's a smart, profound cut designed to raise the pressure on the dancefloor. On the flip, "Drift" comes to life with fantastic mind-bending sweeps. Label bosses Rebar close the EP off on a quasi-devotional touch with their rework of "Voices In My Head". The pair stays in the deep end with sublime synths and a stripped back rhythmic architecture. It's a perfect counterpoint to Suckut's original.

Italian sound designer Roberto Clementi steps up on Made Of Concrete with BNJMN on remix duties. Standout track "Plebiscite" makes a statement from the first bar with a pounding bassline. It's a peak-time heavy-hitter. BNJMN puts on his remixer hat to take on the leading track, adding an ethereal dimension through evocative pads and percussive rattles. "Evocate" is dark and minimalist with a simple lead and eerie-laden somber sequences. Acid-laced "Cription" spells techno in a more experimental, non-kickdrum reliant manner. It's a refreshing take on the genre in a piece that is reminiscent of early rave days.

Alek S returns to the mothership with his third full EP, dropping just in time for the label's third birthday. "Consciousness Outline" lays the groundwork with a solid slice of punchy techno. Featuring a minimal array of elements, it's a gradual build-up of a powerful groove. Roberto Clementi takes on remix duties, revamping "Consciousness Outline" into a cavernous techno affair. "Penny Drop" dives in with a spacious loop, which keeps center-stage throughout -- airy with ample pads and a loose, gripping melody. "Neverending" rounds the EP off in an atmospheric, upbeat fashion -- ascending synth pads and electrifying percussion.

Myles Sergé showcases his production chops in a four track EP for Made Of Concrete. "Rules Of Engagement" kicks in with a triangulating synth kept afloat with subtle elements and variations, anchored by a discrete bassline. "Everything In Darkness Comes To Light" revolves around a funky chord progression, making for an unusual house exploration filled with whimpered vocals and eerie rustles. Aubrey offers up a cavernous remix of "Rules Of Engagement", inserting major distortion in the initial synth lead. "Walking Through Concrete" bounces in with blunt percussion stabs, gradually building up the main melodic loop.

Made Of Concrete founders Andreas Pionty and fumée grise join forces as Rebar and put forth their debut EP. Opening track "Prohlis" is a straightforward exploration of industrial elements with an impersonal, functional atmosphere. Coeter jumps in on the rework, adding more groove to the track through rhythmic distortion. "Hansaviertel" unfolds as a more traditional composition. Using live recordings from the eponymous district in Berliner fumée grise's home base, the track evokes the same minimalist and cavernous ambiance as the area itself. Known for his upright techno antics, Alex Bau puts forth an atypical dub tech remix.

Alek S offers up another dose of pensive techno vibes with his Paradise Lost EP. "Bold" is a slice of laid back, while still pounding, techno, boasting zippy synths with an unmistakable analog flavor. The Argentinian producer Andres Zacco's rework of "Honey Wheat" follows - an apt reconstruction of the original that's aimed squarely at the dancefloor. "Paradise Lost" is a slow-paced melody that gradually shifts into a dreamy groove, filled with spaced-out drums and abstract delays. Last but not least, the original version of "Honey Wheat" - a somewhat atmospheric, yet functional floor warmer.

Danny Kotz and Avi Caspi create an incursion into the deep end of spacious techno with Reject EP. "Reject" unfolds steadily, as spatial loops intertwine with piercing zippy synths. The laid back melodic outline is aptly layered with somber French vocals by Laurie Eve Jasmine de Larohe. "Canopy" follows a slowly ascending groove, as synths and wavy hooks further the track into deep tech territory. Myles Sergé remixes "Reject", stripping down its embellishing elements and shifting focus towards the bassline. Energetic synths set a peppy, '70s mood for "Karat" while the melody keeps the cut anchored into present day electronica.

British producer Reformed Society presents High Tension EP with a remix by Gathaspar. "High Tension" is a high strung stripped back piece with an aerial feel. It's a clear-cut, steady groove. Gathaspar's "Rausch Remix" is a sub-bassy reinterpretation of the initial piece, filled with contorted whirs and whizzes that give the track a sub-aquatic feel. On "Volgende Halte", the opening vocal sample shifts from a seemingly conventional soundbite to a haunting snippet. Rhythmical rolling pads galvanize the groove. "Orbiting Jupiter" centers around wavering bass leads, while playing on a blend of spacious synths and timbered percussion patterns.

Dudley Strangeways joins forces with Michael McLardy for FMA EP. Michael McLardy opens proceedings with "Separation", a minimalist techno exploration that slowly builds up by the way of mechanical rolls and undulating synths. "Another Time" is loosely strung with ascending airy synths, while metallic percussion pads keep the groove grounded. Dudley Strangeways' first offering, "Cast" is a moody slice of ambiental tech, with a slow pace aptly accentuated with piercing shrills and clangs. "Hydra" takes us into the deep end of dark techno straight from the get-go with its pounding bassline, crafted by layering minimalist yet memorable arrangement patterns.

Ashworth concentrates on the essence of solid techno in his first full EP for made of CONCRETE. "World" opens with a soft melodic lead before swiftly changing the tempo and immersing the listener in a syncopated bassline peppered with whirring synths that harmonize with full-scale piano cuts. On "Launch," the producer lays down hard-hitting techno drums from the get-go, setting the foundation for a tense atmosphere. "Mineral" reveals a stripped-down, minimalist approach, assembling the melody with the help of industrial elements, emotive bleeps, and electric glitches. "Scatter" shows Asworth's experimental edge, pairing the sub-bass lead with low-key synths and mechanical loops.

The made of CONCRETE label celebrates its 2016 one-year anniversary with label founders Andreas Pionty and fumée grise's remixes of four standout tracks from the label's 2015 output. Pionty's fast-paced remix of Gathaspar's celestial "The Lover of Ursa Major" adds extra bass and zippy synths. Pionty turns the mysterious mood of Alek S's dubby "Boyz Weekend" down for a more rapacious, dancefloor-oriented take. fumée grise strips Steven Cock's "Fusion" of its more playful bell accents and heads for deep, dark territory. fumée grise's remix of Gathaspar's sub-bassy "Gathsoland" downplays the original kick and focuses on the addictive vocal sample.

Steven Cock presents his energetic The Kickomat EP. Introduced by a trippy, deep bassline and kicks surrounded by some light shakers, "Kickomat" steadily evolves until the characteristic hi-hat tightens the mix. With his remix, Daniel Stefanik puts the track into a more industrial background, highlighting different parts of the original. Lastly, there is the secret weapon "Aa2." Mechanical percussion rings through great halls, bringing up the formative chord accompanied by slightly disruptive synth elements. A drifting piece that definitely can be taken down to the misty floor.

Homeless House (Moire Patterns and DJ Kriton) develop live-session sounds into a specific old school techno sound. "Irrational Beat Up" delivers a dirty kick and bass followed by catchy percussion and chords. The trance-inducing "Astronaytis" is branded by rough sounds and vocals, with snare breaks taking perception back to reality. On "Sous Sols," intense chord progressions collide with solid beat structure and a slight bassline to show a lighter side.

With straight sounds and dark beats, Gathaspar takes it down to the realm of the shades. After the vocal-heavy intro of "Gathsoland," the subkick abducts you into areas of unknown soundscapes. Through the stormy pads of "The Vision" (a collaboration with Echologist), the EP closes out with the combination of traditional techno elements and modern interfaces in "The Lover of Ursa Major."

The first release on made of CONCRETE is Steven Cock's Fusion EP, on which liquid cement dries and becomes its own living body. Three tracks, molded from pressing beats, playing with the force of delay and wandering synthesizer patterns. Welcome to made of CONCRETE.
