Kirk Degiorgio delivers an EP of full-bodied tracks, opening with the headspin stomper of "The Nearness of Flames." "Acid Symphony" weaves an acid line into a rich tapestry, while John Beltran's remix reimagines it with a sunrise touch.

Gene Hunt summons a three-tracker for the Midnight Shift label. True house and techno direct from the source and in his own words, a rather "jungly" take of it due to the tracks' chaotic percussion. "Feeling It" takes you back to the original old school, with all the classic elements in place. It's a house lover's wet dream, 30 years after the fact. "Spector" twists things up while keeping that pumping jacking groove a perfect intersection between then and now. "Scatter" punches through the noise like a clarion call to arms. Report to the dancefloor, please.

Temasek is a personal release for both Mr. G and Midnight Shift, where a friendship was born in Temasek, the earliest recorded name of a settlement in Singapore. From the stay at the Pan Pacific hotel with great views of the city center, to a bespoke cocktail bar and tucking into black pepper crab, the memorable excursion is now forever captured in this EP.

The Midnight Shift White Label series, dedicated to full EPs from Midnight Shift artists, follows Eddie Niguel's emotive, personal The Journey (MNSW 001EP, 2015) with Sisyphean Rage by Portuguese DJ and producer Ka§par. The ruff 'n' tuff house-meets-techno tumble of "Ravisher" is ripe for the dancefloor. Multitalented Detroit producer and DJ Jerry the Cat, percussionist on several Theo Parrish productions, dons his singer-lyricist cap for the personal anthem "Let Me Be," a revival gem backed by Ka§par's take on electro. Kirk Degiorgio closes the EP with his less-is-more instrumental remix of "Let Me Be."

Eduardo de la Calle takes a tougher stance than on his silkier productions, heading into rough, raw, analog terrain for Midnight Shift's MNSX series. The relentless, pulsating, slithering acid bassline of "Roswell Case" makes it a peak-time earworm roller. On "Synthesized Priorities," the soul of the machine makes itself heard -- another hypnotic builder. "Mexican Madness" is a twisted journey led by an analog synth; a peculiar product waiting to wreck insane havoc on the floor. On his remix of "Mexican Madness," Jacob Martin aka Hodge turns the opening synth groove totally rugged -- another winning move from the Bristolian producer.

Midnight Shift launches its White Label series with Eddie Niguel's first full EP for the label. "City 2 City" moves from the dancehalls of Berlin to the festivals of Krakow to basement dens in Singapore. "The Warehouse" follows the melancholic "Where Do We Go from Here" and features classic drum work and an uplifting vocal and synth lead, plus wide, spacious breathing capacity. Simple but effective. Young Belgian Locked Groove aka Tim van de Meutter remixes "Where Do We Go from Here" with the hand of an alchemist, transforming the original's sincere and pensive yearning into a heroic statement.

John Heckle, from Merseyside, UK, presents the third installment of Midnight Shift's MNSX series, hot on the tail of two releases by Tapirus aka Rotterdam's own Charlton. "Wet Noises" delivers upfront drumming, an acid bassline, and soaring synths. "Alpha Deux" begins with a deceptive ambient soundscape that organically evolves into a full-blown Chicago acid workout. Let it reverse and play on for a secret ending! Tapirus's remix of "Wet Noises" opens with an acid bounce that snakes its way into the mystical. "Frozen Planet" is an evocative piece anchored by a broken beat and deep bassline.
