Often referred to as The Pig and rarely spotted without shades, Mike "Aardvarck" Kivits has remained a compelling figurehead within the Dutch underground for decades, happily flitting between down-tempo and high-octane styles from release to release and generally sounding like no one else out there. Kivits has developed a strong affiliation with the Skudge Records operation, which commenced with his humongous remix of the Swedish act's "Convolution" in 2010. Having committed two full 12" releases to the Skudge Presents cause (the Indo EP in 2012 and Plus Det in 2014), Kivits now presents a full Aardvarck long-player on the label. The cryptically titled Co in Ci features eight new Aardvarck productions from Kivits, with more pacey excursions on the LP and more experimental and ambient material on the 10". Co in Ci is the ninth album the Dutch producer has released in the 13 years since his 2002 debut LP for Delsin.

Aardvarck aka Mike Kivits returns to the throbbing analog techno he so successfully explored on 2014's Plus Det 12" (SKUDGE PT010EP). With "Thanxxx Joch", he launches a rolling Detroit-influenced techno onslaught with the kind of sharp, in-your-face riffs that stir memories of sweaty early '90s warehouse parties in far-flung Belgian outposts. On "Hump," the sci-fi synthesizers, fizzing electronics, and bubbling melodies tempt one to gaze skywards, but the beats -- a combination of thunderous drum machine kicks, dusty snares, and African-influenced hand percussion -- keep things grounded. Why peek towards the heavens when you can get lost in the groove?

Aardvarck returns with his third full-length album for Eat Concrete Records. Anti Concept showcases a taste for deep ambient and minimalist soundscapes, dub, Detroit techno and bass-heavy beats, mixed into a perfect flow. As the title suggests, Anti Concept leaves aside musical genres and focuses on atmosphere rather than style. Aardvarck carefully and patiently builds his own world of sound, adding layers and complexity with each track, sampling favorite artists such as Jon Hassel, Fennesz, Talk Talk and the odd dub 45 along the way. These 27 tracks bring mostly new material but also contain some of his earlier works on previous Eat Concrete and Bloom releases, highlighting some of his most impressive output.

Rush Hour released Aardvarck's "Nosestep" as part of his Well Well Well EP in the summer of 2007. Now the label re-releases it with a new version by Cosmin TRG, who transformed it into a strong acidic stepper, 2010 style. On the B-side there is an unreleased Nubian Mindz remix from Aardvarck's Spoken release from 2001. Rush Hour didn't release it at the time, but with the whole new future house movement, the timing couldn't be more perfect.

Into his 25th year as a DJ, Dutch producer Aardvarck comes with his second full-length album for Eat Concrete Records -- much in the vein of his Bloom series, but in an album context with songs and lush inter-noodley bits. With Choice, Aardvarck has created one of his finest selections to date. Offering 22 tracks that go in all different directions, Aardvarck has become known for bass-heavy dub, lush soundscapes, broken beats and soul vocals. The album is introduced by Gaslamp Killer, kicks off with the beautiful "Lucky Shot," featuring female vocals by Alexandra, and continues with some cinematic and hypnotizing ambient-esque pieces before the bass kicks in with "Breaking Bad." From then onward, you are treated with songs reminiscent of some of the recent Bloom releases, displaying a taste for heavy bass, beats and dub samples. Yet Choice has more to offer than DJ-food alone; the album flows like a mix and keeps a light and fresh vibe along the way with lots of sketches and interludes. Aardvarck also offers some definite classics with "Heal" and "Find The Cow..Almost," featuring guest vocals on both tracks. Timeless.

Some serious shit again from Aardvarck, this time showing the more industrial side of influences along with some lush, deep ambience. This 12" is white-label style, so when they are gone, they are gone!
